Today we have more than 600 people across Ireland and the UK, and we are still growing. Since 2024, having grown from a local family-run company, we have been part of the Legrand Group, a global specialist in electrical and digital building infrastructure with sales of more than €9bn and a presence in close to 90 countries. The Opportunity Sustainability is becoming ever more important to our data centre customers, and this role puts you at the heart of it. As our Environmental & ISO Compliance Engineer, you will own Davenham's environmental management system, lead ISO 14001 compliance across our Irish and UK operations, and turn the Legrand Group's sustainability commitments into real, measurable progress on the ground. The timing could not be better. As Davenham grows, so does the scale of what you can achieve: cutting energy use and emissions across multiple sites, designing out waste and packaging, and giving customers the product environmental data they increasingly expect. With the Legrand Group's net zero ambition validated by the Science Based Targets initiative, you will have both the mandate and the backing to make a visible difference. This is a hands-on role for someone equally at home on the shop floor, in an audit or in front of a customer. You will work with Production, Engineering, Procurement and Facilities to build environmental thinking into everyday decisions, and act as an internal auditor across our ISO management systems. We are looking for someone who takes real ownership and wants to build, not just maintain. Key Duties & Responsibilities Owning the Environmental Management System (ISO 14001) Act as Davenham's Environmental Representative, owning the EMS across our Irish and UK sites, including the environmental policy, scope, context, interested parties, and risks and opportunities. Maintain the environmental aspects and impacts register, taking a lifecycle view of our operations, from raw materials such as copper and steel through to coatings, packaging, transport and end of life. Set environmental objectives and action plans aligned to Legrand Group CSR targets. Develop and maintain EMS documentation, operational controls and environmental emergency preparedness arrangements, and investigate any environmental incidents. Lead certification body audits (certification, surveillance and recertification) and drive non-conformities through to verified closure. Coordinate EMS inputs to management review. Environmental Compliance Maintain the register of environmental legal and other requirements for Ireland and the UK, covering areas such as waste, producer responsibility (WEEE and packaging), F-gas, emissions and discharges. Carry out periodic evaluations of compliance, close any gaps promptly, and act as the main point of contact with regulators and local authorities on environmental matters. Horizon-scan for legislative and Group changes, such as new packaging and sustainability reporting requirements, and advise the leadership team on their impact. Energy & Carbon Act as Davenham's energy contact for the Legrand Group, delivering quarterly and annual energy and environmental reporting to Group standards. Identify significant energy uses, set baselines and performance indicators, and implement a metering and measurement plan in line with ISO 50001 principles. Collect, validate and report Scope 1 and 2 emissions and support Scope 3 data collection, contributing to the Group target of a 42% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2030. Identify and build business cases for energy efficiency and renewable energy projects, drawing on available grant support (e.g. SEAI in Ireland), and track the savings delivered. Waste, Packaging & Circular Economy Manage waste streams across our sites, including segregation, contractor management and documentation, with a focus on reduction and diversion from landfill. Work with Procurement, Stores and Logistics to reduce packaging and eliminate single-use plastics, in line with the Group's 2030 packaging commitment. Find opportunities to reuse, recycle or reduce materials such as copper and steel offcuts, cable, timber and packaging. Product Sustainability & Customers Support Engineering and Commercial teams with product environmental data, such as Product Environmental Profiles, material declarations, and REACH and RoHS information. Lead responses to customer and tender sustainability questionnaires, positioning Davenham's environmental performance as a commercial strength. Auditing Across Our ISO Systems Build and deliver a risk-based annual internal audit programme across our ISO management systems (ISO 14001, ISO 9001 and ISO 45001), covering every site and function. Carry out internal audits and routine compliance checks on the shop floor, and write clear reports with practical, risk-ranked findings. Own the corrective and preventive action process: agree actions with department heads, track them to closure and verify that they have worked. Host external certification, customer and Group audits, acting as the point of contact for auditors on environmental matters. Train and mentor internal auditors in other departments so that audit capability is shared across the business rather than resting with one person. Work with Quality and EHS colleagues to align processes within a single integrated management system. Reporting & Governance Maintain environmental and energy KPI dashboards, and deliver monthly performance reporting to the site leadership team. Prepare the environmental and energy inputs to management review, covering performance against objectives, audit results, compliance status, incidents and improvement opportunities. Provide accurate, auditable data to support Legrand Group sustainability and CSR reporting. Report clearly on progress against Group 2030 targets, flagging risks and the actions needed to stay on track. Keep records, evidence and documented information audit-ready at all times. Training, Education & Engagement Own the site environmental training matrix: identify the roles whose work has a significant environmental or energy impact, define the competence needed, and make sure training is delivered and recorded. Design and deliver training for different audiences: environmental content for new-starter inductions, toolbox talks and practical briefings for production teams on waste segregation, spill response and energy use, and more detailed sessions for managers on compliance obligations and targets. Coach department heads and Production Managers so they can own their own environmental aspects, actions and audit findings. Run awareness campaigns and build a network of environmental champions across the production units, recognising and sharing the improvements they deliver. Communicate performance, legislative changes and Group targets in plain language through team briefs and visual boards, so that everyone understands what is expected of them and why. Share best practice with Legrand Group sites through the Group environmental network. General Always abide by the Legrand Group Core Values and Code of Ethics and strive to meet and exceed the Group's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) commitments. How Success Will Be Measured ISO 14001 certification maintained, with no major non-conformities at external audits. Compliance evaluations completed on schedule, with zero environmental regulatory breaches. Year-on-year reduction in energy intensity and Scope 1 and 2 emissions, in line with Group targets. Improved recycling and landfill diversion rates, and reduced plastic packaging. Group and internal reporting delivered accurately and on time, with management review held to schedule. Internal audit programme completed to plan, with corrective actions closed within agreed timescales. Environmental training matrix complete, with all identified roles trained and records up to date. Key Relationships Internally: the EHS Manager, senior leadership team, Production Managers across our Irish and UK sites, Engineering, Quality Control, Procurement & Stores, Facilities, Commercial, Finance and HR. Externally: Legrand Group environmental and energy teams, certification bodies, regulators and local authorities, waste and energy service providers, and customers. Qualifications, Experience & Skills Essential Degree (Level 7/8) in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Energy Engineering or a related discipline. Minimum of 3 years' experience in an environmental, energy or ISO compliance role within a manufacturing environment. Hands-on experience maintaining an ISO 14001 environmental management system and hosting external certification audits. Qualified ISO 14001 internal or lead auditor, or willingness to qualify within the first 6 months. Sound knowledge of environmental legislation in Ireland, the UK and the EU, with the ability to track changes and assess their impact on the business. Working knowledge of energy management and carbon accounting (e.g. GHG Protocol Scopes 1, 2 and 3). Experience planning and carrying out internal audits, and writing audit reports that drive action. Experience designing and delivering training, toolbox talks or briefings to both shop-floor and management audiences. An analytical, data-driven approach, with advanced Excel skills and the ability to turn data into clear management reporting. A confident communicator and influencer at every level, from the shop floor to senior leadership and external stakeholders. Well organised, able to manage multiple priorities and deliver to deadlines. Full driving licence and flexibility to travel between Davenham sites in Ireland and the UK, and occasionally internationally. Desirable Working knowledge of ISO 50001, ISO 9001 and ISO 45001 within an integrated management system. Recognised environmental qualification (e.g. IEMA certificate or NEBOSH Environmental Diploma) or registered energy auditor status. Experience with product environmental data (e.g. PEP/EPD, REACH, RoHS) or customer sustainability assessments. Experience in LV switchgear, critical power, electrical manufacturing or the data centre supply chain. Train-the-trainer certification or experience building a training programme from scratch. Experience with EHS or document control software and data visualisation tools (e.g. Power BI).
