# Consultant, Communication and Engagement **Ideaspace** · Vancouver, BC · `On-site` 🕒 **Статус:** *Опубликовано: вчера* · *Источник: Indeed* --- ### About the Role About Ideaspace Consulting We bring clarity, focus and creativity to projects that shape communities. We work on a wide range of public-interest initiatives, including affordable housing, social programs, youth initiatives and major public infrastructure projects. We’re not a PR firm. We are problem-solvers, bridge-builders and translators between government, non-profits, Indigenous communities and the public. We help people make sense of complex policies, programs and technical information through clear communication and meaningful engagement. We also think in systems. We look beyond individual tactics to understand how policies, programs, infrastructure, people and processes connect over time and design communication and engagement that supports the system as a whole. We’re a small but mighty team that values collaboration, innovation, empathy and professionalism in how we work with each other and our clients. The opportunity We’re looking for an experienced communications and engagement consultant who can bring structure to complex situations and grow into leading significant client work. You’ll begin by working closely with the President and other team members on active projects, building familiarity with our clients, methods and quality standards. As you develop that context and demonstrate sound judgement, you’ll take on increasing responsibility for projects, client relationships and team leadership. This is rewarding work for someone who wants to help create meaningful change at the community level. You’ll have genuine responsibility, room to think creatively and the opportunity to see your work put into practice. Why join Ideaspace Meaningful work: Our projects have a real impact in communities. Creative energy: We value bold ideas, fresh thinking and practical solutions. Collaboration: We’re a supportive, fast-paced team that works through challenges together. Professional growth: You’ll take on diverse projects, build your judgement and continue sharpening your skills. What you’ll do Develop integrated communications and engagement strategies grounded in context, evidence and the needs of affected people. Plan and conduct research, interviews, workshops and working sessions. Synthesize complex information into clear findings, recommendations and actions to develop policies, strategies and programs. Design engagement approaches that are purposeful, respectful and realistic about how input will be used. Write and edit strategies, reports, presentations, guides, training materials and public-facing communications. Facilitate client meetings, workshops, focus groups, interviews and presentations. Work alongside the President and team to learn project contexts and client relationships. Take responsibility for defined projects and workstreams, with support available when the context, relationships or stakes require it. Provide thoughtful, practical advice and build trusted client relationships. Manage scope, budgets, schedules, approvals, quality and client expectations. Work closely with other consultants, coordinators and creative or technical specialists. Contribute to proposals, work plans and estimates of effort. What you need to bring At least five years of progressively responsible experience in communications, engagement or a related field. A minimum of three years working in a consulting environment, with demonstrated responsibility for client assignments. Exceptional writing, editing, analysis and synthesis skills. Experience developing communications and engagement strategies and carrying them through to delivery. Strong facilitation and presentation skills. Experience managing projects, budgets, schedules, quality and client relationships. Sound judgement in ambiguous or sensitive situations. The ability to move comfortably between strategic thinking and hands-on delivery. A collaborative, low-ego and coachable approach. A commitment to respectful, accessible and inclusive communications and engagement. Experience in housing, health, public services, environmental issues, public infrastructure, organizational strategy or Indigenous relations would be helpful but is not required. Experience developing training or guiding video, animation, design or digital content would also be an asset. This role may be a strong fit if You enjoy finding structure in an unclear situation. You’re equally willing to shape the strategy, improve the sentence, lead the meeting and resolve a delivery problem. You value autonomy without wanting to work in isolation, care about how your work affects people and enjoy moving between different subjects without losing rigour. This role is less likely to suit someone who needs a fully defined brief before beginning, wants strategy separated from delivery or prefers to work within a narrow subject area.
