Construction Manager

Job Purpose / Summary

To oversee the planning, execution, and completion of civil engineering projects. This role involves managing all aspects of civil construction, including site development, structural work, and infrastructure. The Construction Manager – Civil ensures that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality and safety standards. This position requires effective coordination with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors, as well as strong leadership and problem-solving skills.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

1. Project Planning and Coordination

• Develop and implement detailed construction plans for civil projects, including schedules, budgets, and resource allocation.
• Collaborate with project managers, civil engineers, and architects to integrate civil work with overall project design and timelines.
• Coordinate and manage site development, including excavation, foundation work, and structural elements.

1. Team Management

• Lead and supervise the civil construction team, including engineers, technicians, and subcontractors.
• Provide guidance, support, and training to team members to ensure high-quality performance.
• Monitor team performance, address any issues, and resolve conflicts that arise during construction.

1. Civil Construction Oversight

• Oversee the execution of civil works, including earthworks, concrete pours, structural steel erection, and infrastructure installation.
• Ensure that all civil work is performed in accordance with design specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Conduct regular site inspections to verify quality and compliance with project specifications.

1. Budget and Cost Management

• Develop and manage the budget for civil construction, including labor, materials, and subcontractor costs.
• Monitor expenses and ensure that civil works are completed within the allocated budget.
• Review and approve invoices, change orders, and other financial documentation related to civil construction.

1. Safety and Compliance

• Implement and enforce safety procedures and standards specific to civil construction activities.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Conduct safety briefings and training sessions for civil construction team members and subcontractors.

1. Problem-Solving and Issue Resolution

• Identify and address any issues or challenges related to civil construction during the project.
• Collaborate with project stakeholders to resolve problems and implement effective solutions.
• Manage and resolve conflicts or disputes related to civil works.

1. Documentation and Reporting

• Maintain accurate records of civil construction activities, including progress reports, inspection reports, and quality documentation.
• Prepare and submit regular reports on the status of civil works, including progress, issues, and performance metrics.
• Document and report any incidents or deviations from the project plan.

1. Quality Control

• Ensure that all civil construction work meets required quality standards and specifications.
• Implement and oversee quality control procedures for civil works.
• Address any quality issues promptly and ensure corrective actions are taken.

Required Education

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. Professional certifications or advanced degrees are preferred.

Required Experience

Minimum of 8–12 years of experience in civil construction management, with a proven track record of managing large-scale civil projects.

• Familiarity with UAE construction regulations and industry standards related to civil works.
• Proven ability to manage diverse teams and coordinate complex civil construction activities.
