The office manages public-facing digital systems, geospatial tools, and accessibility-related data infrastructure. Position Title Computer Science Intern Program Learn & Earn Program Career Pathway Alignment Technology & IT Number of Placements 1 Reports To Senior ADA Program Manager and Senior Administrative Assistant Expected Start Date September 21, 2026 Job Tier Intermediate: requires technical coursework and job readiness. Location Boston City Hall, Office 714 Hours of Operation: If a student is seeking academic credit for internship, an intern must complete 150 hours over the semester. 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM (flexible based on course schedule) Background This position is offered through the RCC Student Jobs Program (Learn & Earn). Learn & Earn provides structured, paid employment designed to reinforce classroom learning, build professional skills, support career exploration, and strengthen students' professional networks. Position Summary The Computer Science Intern supports digital accessibility compliance through backend coding, geospatial asset management, and public-facing web design. Interns assist with website updates, Experience Builder development, and ArcGIS reporting. Duties and Responsibilities Process refund requests Coordinate sidewalk deposit refund requests and communicate updates. Support website management Assist with upkeep and creation of public-facing websites using Drupal. Develop digital experiences Support creation and management of Experiences using Experience Builder. Update geospatial reports Maintain Weekly Engineering Ramp Report using ArcGIS Pro. Manage data systems: Work with large datasets to support accessibility compliance. Complete related tasks: Perform additional duties as assigned. Academic Internship Structure This is an Academic Internship placement. Students receiving academic credit must complete 150 hours during the semester and satisfy the requirements of the applicable RCC internship course/program. Internship hours must be documented separately from any other student employment hours. Concurrent Federal Work-Study A student may hold a separate Federal Work-Study position while completing this Academic Internship. The FWS position must be a different position with its own job description, duties, supervisor/placement record, and timekeeping. FWS work hours may not be applied toward the 150-hour Academic Internship requirement. Job Requirements: Requirements Must be enrolled in an academic internship course for academic credit Must demonstrate the ability to work in the United States. Enrolled in an undergraduate program majoring in Information Systems Technology or Web Technologies Familiarity with ArcGIS or Arcade programming language Ability to manipulate large datasets Ability to follow written and oral instructions Strong attention to detail and judgment Preferred Qualifications Experience with Drupal or similar content management systems Interest in geospatial systems or municipal data infrastructure Comfort working with public-facing digital tools Additional Information: Supervision & Academic Learning The internship site supervisor provides role-specific guidance, feedback, and oversight. The student is responsible for meeting RCC academic internship requirements, documenting completion of the required 150 hours, and completing any course-based assignments, reflections, or evaluations required by the applicable academic program. Classification & Reporting For CESJ and institutional reporting, this placement must be coded as an Academic Internship and must not be reported as Federal Work-Study or Learn & Earn. Any separate FWS or Learn & Earn position held by the same student must be recorded independently.
