Compromise Recovery Specialist
The Compromise Recovery Specialist – Advertising is responsible for identifying, investigating, and recovering compromised advertising accounts, campaigns, and related digital assets. The role focuses on responding to unauthorized access, fraudulent advertising activity, policy violations caused by account compromise, and financial or campaign-related losses. The specialist works closely with customers, advertising platforms, internal security teams, technical support, and compliance teams to secure affected accounts, investigate incidents, restore legitimate access, and minimize business disruption. Key Responsibilities Investigate compromised advertising accounts, Business Managers, ad accounts, pages, and related digital assets. Identify unauthorized access, suspicious login activity, fraudulent campaigns, unauthorized payment activity, and malicious changes to advertising settings. Review account activity, campaign history, billing information, user permissions, and security events to determine the scope and impact of a compromise. Coordinate account recovery and restoration of legitimate access for affected customers. Assist in securing compromised accounts by removing unauthorized users, resetting credentials, reviewing permissions, and recommending appropriate security controls. Work with advertising platform support and internal escalation teams to resolve account restrictions resulting from unauthorized activity. Review fraudulent or unauthorized advertisements and determine whether activity is consistent with account compromise. Support recovery of advertising spend or disputed charges where applicable and according to company/platform procedures. Collect and document evidence related to security incidents and account compromises. Maintain accurate case notes, incident timelines, investigation findings, and recovery actions. Prioritize cases based on business impact, financial exposure, account risk, and urgency. Communicate clearly with customers throughout the investigation and recovery process. Escalate complex or high-risk cases to Security, Fraud, Risk, Legal, Compliance, or technical teams when required. Identify recurring compromise patterns and provide feedback to improve fraud prevention and account-security processes. Monitor emerging advertising fraud techniques, phishing campaigns, account-takeover methods, and other relevant threats. Ensure all recovery activities comply with internal policies, privacy requirements, security procedures, and advertising-platform rules. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Digital Marketing, Business, or a related field preferred. Experience in advertising operations, digital marketing, account recovery, fraud prevention, cybersecurity, trust & safety, or technical support. Understanding of digital advertising platforms and advertising account structures. Strong investigative and analytical skills. Experience handling sensitive customer or business information. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple high-priority cases. Strong attention to detail and documentation skills. Work Location: In person
