This role is pivotal in bridging the gap between pre-construction and final commissioning. You will be responsible for identifying, and qualifying the right lead opportunities, providing bids, Request For Proposals, budgeting and pre-construction consultations to sell work for both existing facility retrofits and new construction projects. This role will also bid and manage microgrid systems, coordinating with our team, suppliers, manufacturers and designers to develop comprehensive pricing, design deliverables and project management to see these complex projects through to completion. In addition, we will work together to navigate the specialized world of grant funding (Examples include: WA Dept. of Commerce, REAP “Rural Energy for America Program,” Utility Grant Funding, along with Federal and State Incentives) as available. We need someone who can take lead managing support from our team and partners to continue executing these projects successfully and bolster our growing workload. Key Responsibilities Estimating & Pre-Construction ● Develop comprehensive, competitive bids for commercial and industrial solar (Rooftop and Ground mount), battery storage (BESS), and microgrid projects using company pricing strategies. ● Estimate and consult for a diverse portfolio, including existing building retrofits and ground-up new construction. ● Mastery in reading and interpreting complex bid documents, construction drawings, specifications, as well as energy codes. ● Perform site evaluations, structural, electrical and roofing feasibility assessments for existing roofs, and solar shading analysis. ● Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and vendor quotes to ensure project profitability. ● Maintain a positive and competitive focus during low close rates and long term sales cycles. Project Management ● Direct all phases of project execution, from permitting and procurement to interconnection and final closeout. ● Manage project schedules and budgets, ensuring high-quality delivery within Washington State’s regulatory environment. Plan and prioritize support for the crew to deliver productive project results. ● Act as the primary point of contact for developers, general contractors, electrical subcontractors and the installation crew. ● Oversee on-site safety and quality control, ensuring compliance with WA state codes. ● Maintain and generate new accounts by providing excellent customer service and responsiveness. ● As a small local business we need a team that is open and willing to wear a lot of hats and contribute to the success of the company however possible, taking lead with initiative at the right times to produce needed results, while also training and delegating to a support team for scheduled and planned standard work processes. ● Qualifying bid opportunities and managing time for the best sale opportunities is key. Required Qualifications ● Experience: Minimum 5 years in commercial solar estimating or project management. ● Technical Mastery: Expertise in reading blueprints, electrical schematics, and site-specific engineering plans. ● Construction Knowledge: Proven track record with existing building retrofits and new construction working together with General Contractors, Subcontractors, AHJ’s and Utilities. ● Initiative, confidence, competitive nature and works well with a team. ● Transportation: Must possess a valid WA State Driver’s License and have access to reliable transportation for frequent travel to job sites and the Auburn office. ● Certifications: NABCEP (PV Installation Professional) or Technical Sales certification and Project Management training is preferred.
