Commercial Plumbing Assistant Project Manager / Estimator
Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Commercial Plumbing Assistant Project Manager / Estimator to join our team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead and support commercial plumbing projects from initial estimate through project completion. You will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, managing project budgets, reviewing construction drawings, and coordinating with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers. The ideal candidate is energetic, highly organized, and possesses a strong foundation in construction management and estimating software. Your expertise will help ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget, contributing to our reputation for excellence in the commercial construction industry. Duties Prepare detailed cost estimates for commercial plumbing projects using estimating software such as HeavyBid and Bluebeam, ensuring accuracy in material quantities, labor costs, and overall project budgets. Review construction drawings and blueprints thoroughly to interpret technical specifications and determine material requirements. Manage project budgets by monitoring costs, controlling expenses, and implementing effective cost management strategies throughout project lifecycle. Collaborate with clients to understand project scope, negotiate contracts, and communicate project updates clearly and professionally. Coordinate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing, secure materials, and ensure timely delivery aligned with project schedules. Assist in managing construction projects by tracking progress, reviewing change orders, and ensuring compliance with safety standards and contractual obligations. Utilize construction management software such as Xactimate or HeavyBid to develop accurate bids, proposals, and project schedules while maintaining detailed spreadsheets for tracking estimates and costs. Skills Proficiency in Bluebeam for digital blueprint reading, markup review, and document management. Strong negotiation skills to secure favorable pricing with vendors and subcontractors while maintaining quality standards. Experience with estimating software including HeavyBid or equivalent tools for accurate cost projection. Extensive knowledge of construction drawing review, blueprint interpretation, and technical specifications within the commercial plumbing sector. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail in cost control and budgeting. Familiarity with construction industry practices such as contract management, project scheduling, material estimation, and site safety protocols. Excellent communication skills for client interaction, team collaboration, and presenting estimates clearly. Solid understanding of construction management software platforms alongside Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word) for data analysis and reporting. Construction site experience that provides practical insight into field operations combined with estimating expertise for comprehensive project oversight.
