Commercial Operations Director

Position Overview

MG Moving Services is seeking a results-driven Commercial Operations Director to lead and scale our commercial moving, warehouse, logistics, and service operations. This director-level role is responsible for operational strategy, team leadership, financial performance, safety, compliance, and the successful execution of complex commercial projects.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on, data-driven leader who can strengthen operational infrastructure, improve warehouse and field performance, support business growth, and consistently deliver an exceptional client experience across regional and national accounts.

Key Responsibilities

Provide strategic and day-to-day leadership for commercial operations, including warehouse, inventory, logistics, transportation, and project execution.

Develop and execute operational strategies that improve efficiency, service quality, capacity, profitability, and scalability.

Lead, coach, and develop managers, supervisors, warehouse personnel, and frontline teams while fostering accountability, teamwork, safety, and customer focus.

Oversee the planning and execution of large-scale commercial moving and logistics projects, ensuring resources, schedules, equipment, and labor are aligned with client requirements.

Establish, monitor, and analyze key performance indicators to identify trends, solve operational issues, and drive continuous improvement.

Own operational budgeting, financial reporting, cost controls, and P&L performance; use financial data to guide decisions and improve profitability.

Oversee warehouse organization, inventory controls, asset management, and logistics processes to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and operational readiness.

Collaborate closely with Sales, Finance, Human Resources, Fleet Management, and other departments to align commercial operations with company goals.

Lead contract administration, vendor relationships, vendor negotiations, and resource allocation for commercial projects and service needs.

Ensure compliance with DOT regulations, OSHA standards, workplace safety requirements, company policies, and applicable industry standards.

Identify operational risks and implement corrective actions, standardized procedures, and performance expectations across the commercial operation.

Support expansion into new markets, accounts, and service lines by building repeatable processes and scalable operational capabilities.

Maintain a strong client-service culture and provide executive-level support for high-value or complex commercial accounts.

Qualifications

-

Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field preferred; equivalent relevant experience may be considered.

Minimum of 7 years of progressive operations leadership experience, preferably in commercial moving, logistics, transportation, warehousing, relocation, or a related service industry.

Demonstrated success leading managers and multi-site or cross-functional operational teams.

Proven experience managing high-value commercial accounts, complex projects, or high-volume service operations.

Strong financial acumen, including experience with budgets, forecasting, cost controls, financial reporting, and P&L responsibility.

Working knowledge of warehouse operations, inventory management, fleet coordination, logistics, and resource planning.

Experience operating within regulated environments and maintaining compliance with DOT, OSHA, safety, and company requirements.

Exceptional leadership, communication, negotiation, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Ability to translate business goals and performance data into practical operating plans and measurable results.
