The student will be enrolled in the ongoing activities and discussions within the Simulation Team, focusing on virtual prototyping and modelling. Project Description The Virtual Belly Platform aims to establish a Virtual Test Environment that enables evaluation of ostomy products and concepts before physical prototypes are available. This capability has the potential to accelerate product development, improve design decisions in the early stages of innovation, and reduce development costs. In the longer term, a validated Virtual Test Environment could support evidence generation for product development activities and potentially contribute to clinical and commercial documentation. A key challenge is demonstrating that the virtual representation of human skin accurately reflects physical behavior in relevant use cases. This project will therefore focus on developing a validation framework by designing test scenarios that can be performed both in the laboratory and in simulation. By comparing measurable outcomes from physical and virtual tests, the project will provide evidence of model accuracy and identify areas for future improvement.
