Chief Technology Officer

The role

SSNF is developing a new generation of industrial nanoscale manufacturing technology. We are hiring a CTO to lead the next stage: scaling our P2PP platform into a reliable, high-throughput manufacturing system.

You will lead engineering execution, own the technology roadmap, and drive improvements in throughput, yield, reliability, and manufacturing cost. Working closely with our existing scientific leadership, you will translate advanced research into production-ready technology. You will also serve as a credible senior technical voice to customers, investors, and strategic partners. This is a hands-on leadership position, especially as we industrialize the platform.

What you’ll do

• Lead platform engineering and scale-up across optics, laser systems, materials, processes, equipment architecture, and integration.
• Set and execute a milestone-driven roadmap from working systems toward production-grade tools and qualified manufacturing processes.
• Own system-level engineering decisions and technical tradeoffs, with clear accountability for performance, uptime, yield, and cost.
• Lead, develop, and recruit an outstanding multidisciplinary engineering team; work effectively with scientific leadership on emerging capabilities.
• Translate customer requirements into technical priorities and oversee qualification of early applications.
• Represent the technology with authority to customers, partners, and investors; contribute to IP strategy and technical capital planning.

What you bring

• Substantial leadership experience in light-based manufacturing, lithography, laser processing, semiconductor equipment, or a closely related industrial technology.
• Deep practical fluency in photonics, lasers, optical systems, and precision engineering.
• Direct experience moving a complex physical process, platform, or tool from laboratory demonstration toward pilot or production scale.
• Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary engineers, make rigorous technical decisions, and deliver against a roadmap.
• Ability to communicate sophisticated technology clearly to technical and nontechnical audiences.

Nice to have

• Experience with ultrafast lasers, two-photon or multiphoton fabrication, or optical manufacturing systems.
• Manufacturing-readiness scale-up, process qualification, equipment reliability, and technical commercialization.
• Advanced degree and relationships across photonics, semiconductor equipment, or advanced manufacturing.
