About us

Maloney Construction is a Florida commercial general contractor specializing in renovation, remodeling, and disaster recovery. We renovate occupied facilities (hotels, schools, shopping centers, public buildings) without shutting them down. We work across the state for public agencies, school districts, hotel owners, and private property groups. Our goal is to become Florida’s go-to renovation contractor, scaling to $10M, then $50M, and ultimately $100M in revenue.

We’re a lean team that runs on systems, not chaos. We built our own internal operations platform, use AI heavily across the business, and pay our subcontractors every week. Now we need a seasoned operator to run the company day to day so our founder can focus on clients, relationships, and growth.

The role

You’ll be the operating leader of the company. You’ll take ownership of how work gets done, from the moment a job is won to final payment, and build the structure that lets us grow without breaking. Over time, the full team (project management, field, procurement, and estimating support) will report to you.

What you’ll own

• Day-to-day operations across 3–5+ active projects at a time
• Project setup, scheduling, and handoff from sales to execution
• Change orders, owner billing, and cash flow discipline
• Protecting project margins and holding the team to them
• First line of response for job-site problems, so they don’t land on the founder’s desk
• Building and improving processes, roles, and accountability as we scale
• Hiring, developing, and leading the operations team
• Working with the founder on company goals, budgets, and growth planning

What we’re looking for

• Experience as a COO, VP of Operations, General Manager, or similar senior operations leader
• A track record of helping a small or mid-sized company scale
• Strong grip on the numbers: margins, cash flow, job costing, P&L
• Someone who fixes problems and improves systems without being told to
• Comfortable with technology and genuinely interested in using AI to run a better business
• Calm under pressure and good with clients, subcontractors, and field crews
• Construction experience is a plus, not a requirement. If you’ve run operations in a field-service, project-based, or multi-location business, we want to hear from you.

Compensation

• Base salary: $130,000–$150,000
• Plus a share of gross profit on jobs, with total compensation potential of $175,000–$250,000+ as the company grows and margins hold

Location

Remote, Florida-based. You must live in Florida so we can meet in person regularly and you can drive to job sites around the state when needed (occasional, not routine). We don’t have a central office today. We plan to build one in Miami as the team grows, and you’ll help shape it.
