Chief Operating Officer

Alliance Health Centers Indiana | Full Time | Executive Leadership

Build the organization that makes care possible.

For patients facing barriers to healthcare, a well run clinic can change everything. It can mean getting an appointment when it matters, finding someone who understands their circumstances, and receiving care with dignity.

At Alliance Health Centers, that is why we grow.

We expand into communities where access is missing, fragile, or at risk. We build partnerships that bring care closer to people. And we work to create a secure future for our patients, our people, and the communities we serve.

We are seeking a Chief Operating Officer with the operational experience to lead that growth and the humility to stay close to the people who make it possible.

The opportunity

As COO, you will translate Alliance’s mission into reliable, sustainable operations across an expanding network of Indiana locations. The scope includes more than 200 employees across operational teams and an organizational operating budget approaching $50 million.

Working closely with the CEO, CFO, and clinical leaders, you will strengthen clinic operations, develop frontline leaders, support providers, and turn new community partnerships into functioning access points for care.

Your work will be visible in the daily experience of our organization: patients who can get care more easily, providers whose workflows support excellent medicine, managers who can make decisions confidently, and teams that follow through.

The leader we are looking for

You bring an entrepreneurial mindset and a record of building healthcare operations through growth and change. You can see what an organization needs next, make sound decisions with available resources, and create systems that help people do their best work.

You are comfortable discussing a complex operating budget and stepping into a clinic to understand why patients are waiting. You listen before drawing conclusions, address difficult issues directly, and take responsibility for seeing solutions through.

Most importantly, you lead in ways that reflect our values:

  • Patient First. You consider how decisions affect access, dignity, safety, and the experience of receiving care. You keep the person behind the operational metric in view.
  • Everyone Is a Team Player. You build trust across locations and disciplines, welcome candid feedback, and resolve disagreements respectfully. You are willing to help wherever the work requires it.
  • Take Action & Own It. You take initiative and carry responsibility for outcomes. You give leaders clear authority, equip them to act, and establish when to partner or escalate.
  • We Are the Community. You approach communities with cultural humility, listen to lived experience, and value the perspectives that help patients feel understood.
  • Quality Over Everything. You use resources carefully while protecting clinical quality, patient experience, and staff development. You create useful structure and keep administrative complexity in check.

What you will lead

  • Sustainable expansion: Prepare new locations, services, and partnerships to operate effectively, with clear staffing models and accountability.
  • Strong daily operations: Improve scheduling, patient access, clinic flow, referrals, and front-end revenue cycle performance.
  • Capable leaders: Develop managers who coach their teams, resolve problems, and own results across nursing, registration, patient access, and clinical support.
  • Trusted provider partnerships: Work alongside clinicians to remove operational barriers and strengthen their ability to deliver excellent care.
  • Financial and regulatory discipline: Partner across the organization on operating performance, FQHC cost reporting, HRSA requirements, and ongoing Joint Commission readiness.

Experience you will bring

  • A master’s degree, with an MBA, MSN, MHA, or related advanced degree preferred.
  • At least 10 years of progressive healthcare leadership experience, including five years in senior operational leadership.
  • A demonstrated record of leading complex healthcare operations across multiple locations through growth, expansion, or transformation.
  • Responsibility for approximately 200 or more employees and a healthcare operating budget of approximately $50 million or comparable financial complexity.
  • Strong experience in ambulatory operations, frontline leadership development, provider relationships, community partnerships, and front-end revenue cycle.
  • Experience in FQHC, FQHC Look-Alike, community health center, or comparable safety-net settings, including relevant regulatory reviews, Joint Commission survey readiness, and FQHC cost reporting.
  • Ability to travel regularly throughout Indiana.

Bring your experience. Help extend our reach.

This opportunity offers meaningful responsibility for how Alliance grows and how that growth serves people. We welcome leaders who can point to what they have built, the people they have developed, and the care they have helped make possible.

Apply to help build a secure future for our patients, our people, and our communities.
