Experience: Medical, veterinary, dental, or healthcare practice management is required. Pawmetto Lifeline is seeking an experienced and highly organized Part-Time Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to help strengthen the financial and operational performance of our veterinary medical services. This is a hands-on position for a financial professional with experience managing the business side of a medical, veterinary, or healthcare practice. The ideal candidate understands that successful practice management involves much more than reviewing financial statements. You will help evaluate budgets, inventory, pricing, purchasing, expenses, workflow, profitability, and overall operational efficiency. The CFO will work closely with the CEO and Director of Operations to identify opportunities to improve efficiencies, control costs, maximize resources, and support the continued growth and success of Pawmetto Lifeline's veterinary services. Key Responsibilities Financial Management & Budgeting · Oversee and monitor practice financial performance, budgets, expenses, and revenue. · Assist with the development, management, and monitoring of annual and departmental budgets. · Analyze financial reports and identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement. · Monitor expenses and help ensure resources are being used effectively. · Develop financial projections and provide practical recommendations to leadership. · Evaluate the financial impact of operational decisions and proposed changes. · Identify opportunities to increase revenue while maintaining affordable, high-quality veterinary care. Inventory & Purchasing Management · Oversee inventory management for veterinary medical supplies, medications, equipment, and other products. · Monitor inventory levels, usage, purchasing patterns, and costs. · Identify opportunities to reduce waste, overstocking, shortages, and unnecessary expenses. · Evaluate vendor pricing and purchasing practices. · Establish or improve inventory controls, tracking systems, and accountability. · Work with department leaders to improve inventory management and ordering processes. Pricing & Practice Analysis · Review current pricing for veterinary services, medications, products, and procedures. · Analyze costs associated with services and procedures to help ensure pricing appropriately reflects expenses and operational needs. · Identify opportunities for pricing adjustments and improved financial sustainability. · Evaluate profitability and financial performance by service area when appropriate. · Conduct cost-benefit analyses for new services, equipment, programs, and operational changes. Practice Operations & Efficiency · Work closely with the CEO and Director of Operations to evaluate and improve operational efficiency. · Analyze purchasing practices, inventory management, and other operational processes. · Identify inefficiencies and recommend practical solutions. · Help develop systems and procedures that improve accountability and reduce unnecessary costs. · Evaluate opportunities to streamline administrative and operational processes. · Collaborate with department managers to implement financial and operational improvements. · Monitor the results of implemented changes and make recommendations for continued improvement. Leadership & Strategic Support · Serve as a financial and operational resource to the CEO and Director of Operations. · Provide clear, understandable financial information to assist leadership with decision-making. · Participate in strategic planning and organizational growth discussions. · Help leadership understand the financial implications of operational decisions. · Establish measurable financial and operational goals and assist with monitoring progress. · Provide recommendations based on data, financial analysis, and practical practice-management experience. Qualifications · Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or a related field preferred. · Demonstrated experience managing the financial and operational aspects of a medical, veterinary, dental, or healthcare practice is required. · Experience with practice management, budgeting, inventory management, purchasing, pricing, and financial analysis. · Strong understanding of practice revenue, expenses, cost controls, and operational efficiency. · Experience analyzing financial reports and using data to make informed business decisions. · Strong organizational and analytical skills. · Excellent attention to detail. · Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities. · Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. · Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with organizational leadership. · Comfortable identifying problems, asking questions, and recommending practical solutions. · Strong computer skills and experience working with accounting, financial, inventory, or practice-management systems. · Ability to balance financial responsibility with the operational needs of a busy medical or veterinary practice.
