Location: Auckland, New Zealand Company: Arossa Limited Employment Type: Full-Time (30 hours per week, guaranteed) Pay: $25 - $35 per hour (based on experience) Duration: Permanent, Full-time Positions: 3 Job Summary: Arossa Limited is seeking a skilled and motivated Chef to join our kitchen team in Auckland. The successful candidate will work alongside and report to the Head Chef and will be responsible for food preparation, cooking, kitchen operations, and maintaining high standards of food quality, presentation, and hygiene. Key Responsibilities: Food Preparation & Cooking Plan and organise the preparation and cooking of food for daily restaurant operations. Prepare and cook a variety of dishes in accordance with established recipes and quality standards. Demonstrate cooking techniques and advise kitchen staff on appropriate cooking procedures. Freeze and preserve food where required. Menu Planning & Cost Control Assist with planning menus to meet customer and business requirements. Estimate food and labour costs to support efficient kitchen operations. Assist with ordering food, ingredients, and kitchen supplies. Monitor food usage and minimise unnecessary waste. Food Quality & Presentation Monitor the quality of dishes at all stages of preparation and presentation. Ensure consistent taste, portioning, quality, and presentation of food. Identify and address food preparation or quality issues promptly. Kitchen Coordination & Communication Discuss food preparation and operational matters with managers, kitchen staff, and waiting staff. Coordinate food preparation activities to support timely and efficient service. Work alongside and support the Head Chef in daily kitchen operations. Food Safety, Hygiene & Compliance Explain, implement, and enforce food hygiene regulations and kitchen safety procedures. Ensure food is handled, stored, and preserved safely. Maintain a clean, safe, and organised kitchen working environment. Staff Supervision & Training Assist in supervising and coordinating kitchen staff. Demonstrate appropriate cooking methods and kitchen procedures to staff. Select and train kitchen staff where required. Qualifications & Experience: A relevant NZQCF Level 5/6 Diploma or equivalent overseas qualification; or At least two years of relevant work experience, which may substitute for the formal qualification. Sound knowledge of food preparation and cooking techniques. Good understanding of food safety, hygiene, and kitchen health and safety requirements. Ability to work effectively in a busy kitchen environment. Strong organisational and time-management skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
