Job Description Job Title: Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Reports To: Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Last Modified: 10/07/26 Department: Administration Program: Finance Sub-Program: Executive FLSA Classification: Exempt, salaried Salary Range: $120,000-140,000 Position Status: Full-time Expected Hours of Work: 8:00am – 4:30pm (M-F). Additional days or hours may be required. Travel required: Some local travel Job Summary: The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) leads and directs the Finance and IT departments. The CFO serves as the primary fiscal strategist for the agency and oversees all financial aspects of YSS, including but not limited to the development and implementation of the agency's budget, forecasts, investments, medical billing, and contract negotiations and management. The CFO also manages the TSG contract and the maintenance and development of the agency's IT infrastructure to ensure smooth operations. Additionally, serves as the Treasurer of the YSS Foundation Board of Directors. Duties and Responsibilities: - Supervises the work of the Finance team and oversees all accounting-related functions such as payroll, general ledger reconciliation, accounts payable and receivable, and grant accounting. - Directs the preparation of financial reports and summaries. - Prepares the annual agency budget and the corresponding program budgets, in conjunction with Program Managers. - Tracks cash flow and compares budget-to-actuals. Works with program managers, directors, and CEO to make adjustments when necessary to ensure that budgetary expectations are being met. - Oversees all audit functions and tax return functions. - Monitors changes in federal and state laws, GAAP, etc. and recommends adjustments in business practices and procedures as needed to ensure compliance. - Assists the CEO to ensure that the agency's insurance coverage remains at adequate levels and serves as the primary liaison to the agency's insurers. - Collaborates with the Finance Committee to oversee the investment of funds. - Analyzes the financial strengths and weaknesses of the agency on a regular basis and provides recommendations for necessary changes to the CEO and Finance Committee of the Board. - Studies financial trends and creates forecasts predicting future growth. - Analyzes and prepares the agency's semiannual cost report. - Oversees provider credentialing with Medicaid and private insurance companies. - Ensures medical billing is completed in accordance with auditing standards. - Prepares all grant budgets, reviews and submits all monthly, quarterly, and annual grant reports. - Oversees the preparation and filing of Form W-2s and Form 1099s Serves as the primary point of contact for software analysis, review and implementation for the agency. - Negotiates and manages contracts related to the agency, including all leases and use agreements. - In collaboration with the CEO and the HR team, evaluates the agency's pay scale and benefits and makes recommendations to the CEO. - Serves as the staff liaison to the Finance Committee of the Board. - Works with the CEO to review the agency's financial policies and procedures at least annually and makes recommendations for changes to the Finance Committee of the Board. - Supervises the work of the IT Technician and the TSG contract and guides the priorities of the IT Department. - Oversees the implementation of the agency's IT Plan and Cyber Security Plan and revises the plan on an annual basis. - Provides financial guidance to the CEO and Maintenance Manager for capital improvements. - Works with the CEO with the CEO, Board of Directors, and staff to update the strategic plan and work towards accomplishing established goals. - Presents reports on all areas under the CFO position to the CEO and Board of Directors at least annually. - Performs other duties as assigned by the CEO. Required Skills/Abilities: - Excellent time management/organization skills. - Strong supervisory skills. - Excellent verbal and written communication skills. - Strong working knowledge of GAAP. - Excellent analytical skills. - Experience with accounting software. - Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to present feasible solutions to challenges. - Ability to work independently and be self-motivated. - Strong technological/computer skills (must be comfortable working with Microsoft Office 365). - Comfortable with technology like Zoom and Microsoft Teams. - Ability to be a team player and work with diverse populations. - Ability to remain knowledgeable about best practices in nonprofit finances. Education and Experience: Education: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or a related field required. Master's degree preferred. License: CPA strongly preferred. Experience: At least 5 years of experience in financial management, especially in nonprofit settings. Fund accounting experience is a MUST. Supervisory experience required.
