CAD/CAM Draftsman/Programmer

We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented CAD/CAM Draftsman cum Programmer to join our technical and production team. The candidate will be responsible for preparing detailed technical and shop drawings, developing 2D/3D joinery designs, and generating CNC programs for manufacturing and production.

The ideal candidate should have practical experience in joinery and furniture manufacturing, CNC programming, material optimization, and coordination with production teams to ensure accurate and efficient execution.

Key Responsibilities

1. CAD Drafting & Technical Drawings

• Prepare detailed 2D shop drawings and 3D models for custom joinery and interior fit-out projects.
• Develop technical drawings for kitchens, wardrobes, cabinets, doors, wall panels, furniture, and other bespoke joinery works.
• Prepare cutting details, assembly drawings, sections, elevations, and fabrication details.
• Review architectural and interior design drawings and convert them into production-ready drawings.
• Ensure drawings comply with project specifications and site dimensions.

1. CAM Programming & CNC Operations

• Prepare and generate CNC programs for 3-axis and 5-axis CNC machines.
• Develop cutting files, drilling patterns, routing paths, and machining operations.
• Generate and optimize CNC toolpaths based on material specifications and production requirements.
• Ensure CNC programs are accurate and compatible with the machine controllers.
• Troubleshoot programming errors and coordinate with CNC operators during production.

1. Nesting & Material Optimization

• Prepare nesting layouts to maximize material utilization and minimize wastage.
• Optimize cutting lists for MDF, plywood, laminates, solid wood, and other joinery materials.
• Generate material reports, cutting lists, and production sheets.
• Ensure efficient material usage and cost-effective production.

1. Production Coordination

• Coordinate with CNC operators, carpenters, joinery supervisors, and project engineers.
• Provide technical support during fabrication and assembly.
• Revise drawings and CNC programs based on site conditions or design changes.
• Ensure smooth coordination between design, drafting, and manufacturing teams.
• Monitor production accuracy and resolve technical issues.

Required Technical Skills

• Strong knowledge of AutoCAD 2D and 3D.
• Experience with CAD/CAM software such as:
• Knowledge of ArtCAM is a advantage.
• Knowledge of CNC machine programming and operation.
• Experience with CNC machines.
• Understanding of joinery construction, woodworking, hardware, fittings, and materials.
• Knowledge of cutting optimization, nesting, drilling, routing, and toolpath generation.

Qualifications & Experience

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Interior Design, Wood Technology, or a related field.
• Minimum 2–3 years of relevant experience in CAD/CAM drafting and CNC programming.
• Previous experience in joinery, furniture manufacturing, or interior fit-out companies is preferred.
• UAE experience will be an added advantage.
