This is an important role in a fast-moving small business. We are looking for someone who enjoys solving problems, organizing people and processes, improving how work gets done, and making sure priorities are carried through to completion. The right person is highly organized, comfortable working independently and able to manage multiple responsibilities without requiring constant direction. You should be someone who notices when something needs attention, investigates the issue, determines the next step and follows through. This is not an administrative assistant position or a corporate strategy/project-management-only role. It is a hands-on business operations position combining staff supervision, business administration, administrative operations, workflow management, customer service, e-commerce operations and process improvement. Relevant backgrounds may include business operations, operations management, business administration, administrative operations, office operations, small-business management, e-commerce operations , or other hands-on management roles involving staff supervision and process ownership. Experience working in a small or mid-sized business where people wear multiple hats is strongly preferred. What You’ll Do Help manage daily business operations , maintaining visibility across priorities, deadlines and open issues and making sure important work continues moving through completion. Provide day-to-day staff supervision and team leadership , including employee scheduling and assignments, workflow, productivity, attendance, deadlines and follow-through, while escalating significant personnel or performance matters to ownership. Coordinate workflow and auction readiness , ensuring catalogs, inventory, production priorities and other operational work remain on schedule. Oversee shipping operations , including preparation of shipping labels, shipping methods, costs, exceptions and follow-up. Maintain inventory management and operational records , track incoming inventory and shipments, identify discrepancies and follow unresolved items through completion. Handle routine customer service and e-commerce issues , including order problems, shipping concerns, claims, chargebacks and payment disputes after learning our policies. Develop reports, tracking systems, SOPs and business processes using Microsoft Excel and other technology to improve accuracy, organization and efficiency. Track KPIs and operational data , identify problems or bottlenecks and help ownership improve workflow and productivity. Support vendor management and wholesale activity , employee administration, project coordination, operational research and special projects, carrying assigned work through completion. A Hands-On Environment Our management team understands how the work gets done. You will be cross-trained in key parts of our production workflow, including catalog/data entry, inventory processing, auction preparation, packaging and shipping. When workload or staffing requires additional help, you should be comfortable stepping in alongside the team. We are not looking for someone who believes management means simply delegating work. We are looking for someone who can oversee a process, identify problems, improve workflows and help solve problems when they occur. What We’re Looking For 5+ years of progressively responsible experience in business operations, operations management, business administration, administrative operations, office operations, small-business management, or a comparable hands-on management role Experience supervising staff and maintaining day-to-day employee accountability Demonstrated ability to independently manage multiple business functions, workflows, projects or priorities through completion Small or mid-sized business experience strongly preferred Experience with several of the following: staff supervision, team leadership, employee scheduling, workflow management, process improvement, SOP development, KPI tracking and reporting, inventory management, e-commerce operations, shipping operations, vendor management, customer service management or project coordination Strong problem-solving, organization, judgment and follow-through Advanced Microsoft Excel skills , including formulas, PivotTables, reporting and data analysis Strong professional written and verbal communication Strong technology aptitude and the ability to learn unfamiliar software independently Experience creating or improving business processes and tracking systems Ability to manage competing priorities and work efficiently without sacrificing accuracy Stable employment history demonstrating responsibility and progression Strong typing, practical business math and computer skills are also important and will be evaluated during our interview process. A college degree is not required . Relevant experience, capability and judgment are more important to us than a particular educational credential. Flexibility and a willingness to help where needed are important. Schedule This is a full-time, salaried, fully in-office position in Lake in the Hills, Illinois.
