What We Are Looking For Above everything else, we are looking for a strong problem-solver . We want someone who: Is good at spotting problems or identifying when something does not look right Will investigate issues rather than ignoring them Can identify the cause of a problem and come up with sensible solutions independently Takes ownership of problems and follows them through until they are resolved Can think independently and make sensible decisions without needing constant direction Is highly motivated and willing to work hard Has excellent organisation and time-management skills Can comfortably manage multiple tasks and priorities at once Is confident speaking with customers, employees, suppliers and external companies Is comfortable handling difficult conversations and customer escalations Learns new systems, processes and areas of the business quickly Is willing to take on unfamiliar tasks and work out how to complete them Pays strong attention to detail Remains organised when working under pressure Has strong written and verbal communication skills Is dependable and takes responsibility for the quality of their work We are looking for someone who sees a problem and naturally thinks: What has caused this, what needs to happen next, and how do I fix it? Experience We are not necessarily looking for somebody who has previously held the exact title of Business Manager. We are particularly interested in candidates who can demonstrate broad practical experience, strong judgement and the ability to solve different types of problems . Experience across several areas such as administration, customer service, operations, logistics, HR, management or problem-solving would be beneficial. More important than having experience in every responsibility listed above is being able to demonstrate that you can learn quickly, investigate problems, think independently and take responsibility for unfamiliar tasks . We would particularly value someone with a wide range of life and work experience that demonstrates their ability to adapt, learn and deal confidently with different situations. Working Style This role would suit somebody who enjoys being involved across different areas of a business and solving problems as they arise. On one day you may be reviewing customer service performance, dealing with an escalated customer call and fixing an issue with courier collections. On another you may be investigating a stock discrepancy, organising staff training, reviewing a supplier contract or helping resolve an issue with an incoming container.
