Our software helps dairy cooperatives, processors, and transportation organizations optimize milk collection, improve scheduling and dispatch, and better understand transportation costs. We are looking for a Business Development Manager – North America to help grow our business across the US and Canada. This will be our first dedicated commercial hire in North America and will be a hands-on role. Your primary responsibility will be developing new business, from identifying and engaging target accounts through discovery, demonstrations, pilots, proposals, and commercial discussions. Our market is specialized and our customers are typically large dairy organizations with complex operations and relatively long buying cycles. This is therefore much more about developing a focused number of valuable enterprise relationships than generating a high volume of transactional sales. As part of a small international team, you should also be comfortable wearing other hats when required - supporting customer meetings, onboarding, industry events, account development, and customer success. Key Responsibilities Develop new business across the US and Canada, primarily with dairy cooperatives, processors, and other organizations involved in dairy transportation. Identify and engage relevant decision-makers across transportation, logistics, supply chain, operations, IT, and senior management. Build and manage a focused pipeline of enterprise opportunities. Progress prospects through discovery, product demonstrations, evaluation, pilots, and commercial agreements. Work closely with the CEO on larger strategic opportunities and commercial negotiations. Understand customer transportation processes and identify where OptaHaul can deliver measurable operational value. Prepare and follow up on proposals, demonstrations, and customer business cases. Maintain accurate opportunity and pipeline information in our CRM. Attend relevant dairy, transportation, and logistics industry events across North America. Help support new and existing North American customers when required, including onboarding, training, and first-line product questions. Provide market and customer feedback to our product and engineering teams. Help us develop a repeatable approach to selling and supporting OptaHaul as our North American business grows. What We Are Looking For Experience in B2B business development, enterprise sales, or a closely related customer-facing commercial role. Dairy industry experience and network Experience selling software, technology, or specialist services to businesses. Comfortable developing opportunities over longer, multi-stakeholder sales cycles. Strong prospecting and relationship-building skills. Able to understand operational processes and discuss them credibly with customers. Comfortable demonstrating software and learning new technology. Self-directed and comfortable working remotely as part of a small international company. Willing to take ownership and work outside a narrowly defined job description when required. Willingness to travel regularly across North America. Particularly Relevant Experience Experience in any of the following would be beneficial, but we do not expect candidates to have all of them: Milk hauling Transportation or logistics Supply chain technology Agtech Enterprise SaaS Route optimization, scheduling, or dispatch Customer onboarding or implementation About the Role This is a remote position within the United States with regular travel across North America. The role offers a competitive base salary plus performance related commission. It is also an opportunity to become an early member of OptaHaul’s North American team and play a meaningful role in how we develop the market.
