# Business Analyst **National Electrical Benefit Fund** · Rockville, MD 20850 · `On-site` 🕒 **Статус:** *Опубликовано: 8 дней назад* · *Источник: Indeed* --- ### About the Role About the Role Are you the kind of Business Analyst who can speak business with stakeholders in the morning and talk through technical requirements with developers in the afternoon? We’re looking for a Business Analyst who thrives in the space between business, technology, and the end user. This is a hands-on role for someone who can wear multiple hats—gathering requirements, facilitating stakeholder discussions, translating business needs into actionable technical requirements, supporting development, testing solutions, troubleshooting issues, and making sure the final product actually solves the problem. You’ll play a key role in a large, high-profile development effort focused on extending a pension administration system. You’ll work closely with business stakeholders, project managers, architects, developers, subject matter experts, and end users to take ideas from “What does the business need?” all the way through “Does this solution actually work?” The ideal candidate is curious, analytical, confident communicating with different audiences, and comfortable asking “Why?” rather than simply taking a request at face value. What You’ll DoBe the Bridge Between Business & Technology - Serve as the primary liaison between business stakeholders and the software development team. - Translate complex business needs into clear, actionable requirements that developers and technical teams can understand and implement. - Communicate technical concepts in business-friendly language and business needs in technical terms. - Build strong relationships with stakeholders, developers, project managers, architects, SMEs, and end users. - Ask thoughtful questions, challenge assumptions, and help stakeholders identify the underlying business need—not just the requested solution. Lead Business Analysis & Requirements - Elicit requirements through stakeholder interviews, workshops, document analysis, process analysis, use cases, scenarios, surveys, and workflow analysis. - Analyze information from multiple sources, identify gaps and conflicts, and turn high-level concepts into detailed requirements. - Develop and maintain Epics, User Stories, Functional Requirements, Acceptance Criteria, Use Cases, Process Flows, Workflow Diagrams, and other development artifacts. - Monitor and manage requirements throughout the development lifecycle. - Work independently with users and business teams to define concepts and develop practical solutions. - Manage multiple initiatives and competing priorities while keeping projects moving forward. Get Hands-On With Testing & Troubleshooting - Develop test cases and acceptance criteria based on business and functional requirements. - Participate in or support system, functional, integration, and user acceptance testing. - Work with developers to investigate defects, clarify expected behavior, and validate fixes. - Troubleshoot assigned issues by gathering evidence, analyzing information, and collaborating with stakeholders, vendors, and internal teams. - Help ensure solutions meet both technical requirements and real-world business needs. Collaborate & Improve Solutions - Partner with developers and subject matter experts to evaluate technical approaches and understand tradeoffs between usability, functionality, performance, and business needs. - Proactively communicate project risks, requirements gaps, dependencies, and potential issues. - Challenge business processes and assumptions when there may be a better or more effective approach. - Support training materials, user documentation, and other implementation activities. - Participate in special projects and other initiatives as needed. What Makes You a Great Fit You’re more than a requirements writer. You’re a problem solver, communicator, facilitator, tester, and translator. You’ll be successful in this role if you can : - Walk into a meeting with business stakeholders and quickly understand what they’re trying to accomplish. - Ask the questions that uncover the real problem behind a business request. - Take a complex business process and break it down into clear requirements and user stories. - Sit with developers and confidently discuss functionality, workflows, data, dependencies, and technical tradeoffs. - Switch comfortably between high-level conversations with leadership and detailed conversations with technical teams. - Roll up your sleeves and help test a solution rather than simply handing requirements to development and walking away. - Investigate a problem, gather evidence, connect the dots, and work collaboratively toward a solution. - Juggle multiple priorities without losing sight of deadlines or quality. - Push back professionally when a proposed approach doesn’t fully address the business need. - Communicate clearly with executives, managers, SMEs, developers, end users, and other stakeholders. Required & Preferred Qualifications - 5+ years of experience in Business Analyst roles. - At least 2+ years of experience working on database application development projects strongly preferred. - At least 1+ year of experience working in an Agile development environment such as Scrum or a similar methodology strongly preferred. - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience. - Strong IT knowledge and technical aptitude. - Experience developing Agile requirements using Epics, User Stories, and Acceptance Criteria strongly preferred. - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate business needs into application and operational requirements. - Experience creating functional requirements, process flows, workflows, use cases, test cases, and other software development artifacts. - Strong understanding of software development and the ability to collaborate effectively with technical teams. - Excellent verbal and written communication skills. - Ability to work professionally and effectively with executives, managers, subject matter experts, developers, end users, and other stakeholders. - Demonstrated ability to manage complex issues while maintaining a flexible, positive, and collaborative approach. - Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple initiatives and competing priorities. - Experience troubleshooting application issues and working collaboratively to identify root causes and solutions.
