# Business Advisor - Skills Development Specialist **The Growth Company** · Manchester · `On-site` 🕒 **Статус:** *Опубликовано: 4 дня назад* · *Источник: Indeed* --- ### About the Role Location Wigan, Manchester Company Business Support Business Finance (BSBF) Contract type Permanent/ Full- time Salary Up to £41,200.00 Closing Date 02/10/2026 Ref No 5393 The Growth Company's (GC) Greater Manchester Business Growth Hub (BGH) team has an exciting opportunity for two Skills Development Specialists to support business owners within all areas of skills development practice, and to support business growth and good employment practice in the Wigan and in the Manchester City Local Authority areas. BGH supports businesses across Greater Manchester with expert advice on funding, innovation, people, sales and sustainability. We provide tailored support to meet the needs of each business at every stage of its growth journey, connecting them with the expertise, resources and opportunities needed to grow and succeed. The in-person Assessment Centre will take place on Thursday 8th October and, if successful, the in-person competency interview will take place on Thursday 15 th October. Key Responsibilities: Deliver comprehensive skills and workforce development assessments to identify training needs and support business growth. Develop tailored skills development action plans that align workforce capability with organisational objectives. Build and maintain strong relationships with business leaders, stakeholders, local authorities and training providers. Provide expert advice on skills programmes, apprenticeships, Skills Bootcamps, technical education pathways and funded training opportunities. Manage a portfolio of businesses, ensuring all support activities, outcomes and client records are accurately maintained. Facilitate workshops, cohort learning sessions and one-to-one support on workforce development topics. Analyse skills data and labour market intelligence to provide informed recommendations to businesses. Act as the local skills specialist, promoting good employment practices and supporting inclusive workforce development. About You: Experienced in skills development, workforce planning, learning and development, or organisational development. Passionate about helping businesses improve productivity, performance and employee capability. Confident working with senior leaders, managers and a wide range of external stakeholders. Able to manage multiple projects and priorities while delivering high-quality client support. A strong communicator who can influence, engage and build credibility with business owners. Comfortable working independently across a local authority area and collaborating with wider teams. Analytical, proactive and solution-focused with a strong attention to detail. Committed to delivering excellent customer service and creating positive outcomes for businesses. Skills Required: Strong knowledge of workforce development, training provision and skills strategies within Greater Manchester. Proven experience conducting skills assessments, training needs analysis and development planning. Excellent interpersonal, presentation, influencing and stakeholder management skills. Strong project management, organisational and administrative abilities. Ability to interpret data, identify trends and provide evidence-based recommendations. Good understanding of HR practices, employee development and good employment standards. Proficient in Microsoft Office, CRM systems and digital technologies, including the appropriate use of AI tools. Degree, CIPD, Learning and Development, Information Advice and Guidance qualification, or equivalent relevant experience. We are currently unable to provide sponsorship for work permits or visas.
