Associate Director Maritime Indonesia

We are looking for an Associate Director - Maritime Indonesia with strong experience in port engineering design and maritime infrastructure projects. This role is suitable for someone who has worked on projects such as ports, jetties, dredging, reclamation, breakwaters, coastal structures, and related fields.

The successful candidate will lead the Maritime team in Indonesia, manage multidisciplinary project delivery, grow client relationships, support commercial opportunities, and develop the team for future business needs.

What will you do

You will lead a multidisciplinary team that may include specialists in oceanography and metocean, coastal engineering, hydrography and bathymetry, structural and geotechnical engineering, port master planning, digital systems/BIM/GIS, project and financial control, sustainability, and related disciplines as the portfolio evolves.

The role combines trusted-adviser presence with entrepreneurial drive. You will shape markets, win the right work, protect Haskoning's commercial and professional position, and represent the company with senior government, port, corporate and investment stakeholders. You will also lead the responsible adoption of AI and digital methods, ensuring that innovation improves quality, productivity and insight without replacing human engineering accountability.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead Haskoning Indonesia’s Maritime team and support the Water & Maritime business strategy.
• Develop and mentor a high-performing multidisciplinary team.
• Drive business development, proposals, and commercial performance.
• Oversee the successful delivery of maritime projects, ensuring quality, safety, and profitability.
• Strengthen relationships with government agencies, port authorities, developers, and industry partners.
• Champion transformation through digital innovation in engineering, AI, BIM, and sustainable practices.
• Promote Haskoning's commitment to Enhancing Society Together through resilient and sustainable solutions.

Where you will work

Based in South Jakarta , you'll be working with a multidisciplinary team and collaborating with experts across our global network to deliver innovative and sustainable maritime infrastructure solutions throughout Indonesia and the APAC region.

What you bring

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil, Coastal, Structural, Coastal Engineering, Port Engineering, Maritime Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Around 15+ years of experience in maritime infrastructure or engineering consultancy, with strong exposure to port engineering design.
• Strong project management experience, including managing scope, schedule, budget, quality, risks, stakeholders, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Essential experience in leading teams and managing people, including mentoring, developing, and guiding engineers or project teams.
• Proven success in business development, client management, and project delivery.
• Strong client-facing and stakeholder management skills, especially with government bodies, port authorities, developers, contractors, and consultants.
• Strong commercial and financial acumen.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Leadership in digital transformation, BIM, GIS, and AI-enabled engineering.
• Professional fluency in English; Bahasa Indonesia is highly desirable.
• Chartered or Professional Engineer registration is an advantage.
