Position Summary

FloridaRAMA is seeking a hands-on, organized and customer-focused Assistant Retail Manager to support the day-to-day operation of Tourist Trap and work closely with the Retail Manager to keep the shop running smoothly.

This position is responsible for helping maintain the shop's inventory, displays, e-commerce operations, stockroom, signage and overall presentation while also providing excellent guest service and supporting the training and development of retail staff.

The ideal candidate is someone who notices what needs to be done and takes initiative to do it. They should be comfortable moving between customer service, inventory, merchandising, computer work, shipping, staff support and general shop operations throughout the day.

This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys both the creative and operational sides of retail and wants to play an active part in maintaining and growing a unique retail environment.

ResponsibilitiesRetail Operations

• Help oversee the daily operation of Tourist Trap, including opening and closing the shop as needed.
• Ensure the shop is clean, organized, fully stocked and presentation-ready throughout the day.
• Monitor product levels and restock merchandise from the stockroom as needed.
• Maintain an organized stockroom and efficient inventory system.
• Identify low-stock items and communicate reorder needs to the Retail Manager.
• Receive, unpack and organize incoming merchandise shipments.
• Check received merchandise against packing slips and invoices.
• Report damaged, missing or incorrect merchandise.
• Organize new merchandise for the sales floor.
• Assist with regular physical inventory counts and inventory reconciliation.
• Help maintain accurate product quantities and inventory transfers in Lightspeed.
• Pull sold-out or discontinued merchandise from displays.
• Help prepare inventory for events, promotions and special installations.

Lightspeed & E-Commerce

• Assist with day-to-day Lightspeed operations.
• Add and update products in Lightspeed, including product information, pricing and inventory.
• Update product photos and descriptions as directed.
• Process and fulfill online orders.
• Pick, pack and ship online orders.
• Prepare orders for customer pickup.
• Monitor online orders and communicate any issues.
• Help maintain accurate online inventory.
• Identify products that need to be added, updated or removed from the online shop.
• Assist with routine Lightspeed troubleshooting and organization.

Inventory & Ordering Support

• Monitor inventory levels and maintain reorder lists.
• Prepare suggested reorders for review and approval by the Retail Manager.
• Receive and organize wholesale shipments.
• Maintain vendor packing slips and receiving records.
• Help track outstanding orders.
• Follow up on missing or delayed shipments when directed.
• Identify slow-moving, overstocked or sold-out products and bring relevant information to the Retail Manager for review.
• Assist with inventory and sales analysis.

Visual Merchandising

• Maintain existing merchandise displays and keep them stocked, organized and visually appealing.
• Restock and straighten displays throughout the day.
• Change displays according to direction from the Retail Manager.
• Assist with seasonal merchandise transitions.
• Set up displays for new merchandise.
• Create and maintain merchandise displays at the ticketing desk.
• Assist with event merchandise setups.
• Assist with merchandising for special installations and projects.
• Identify displays that need refreshing and bring ideas and recommendations to the Retail Manager.
• Help maintain the overall visual organization and appearance of Tourist Trap.

Signage

• Keep shop signage current, organized and consistent.
• Print and install routine signage.
• Replace outdated or damaged signs.
• Maintain pricing signs and product information.
• Assist with creating simple signage using Canva.
• Prepare signs for new merchandise, promotions and events.
• Identify signage that needs to be redesigned or updated.
• Assist with installing and maintaining signage throughout the retail space.

Artist & Vendor Support

• Maintain artist and vendor files and documentation.
• Help coordinate artist product drop-offs and pickups.
• Assist with receiving, organizing and preparing artist and vendor merchandise for the sales floor.
• Track product performance and identify notable sales trends.
• Assist with inventory and sales analysis related to artist and vendor products.

Retail Staff Support & Training

• Help train new retail-focused Experience Guides on basic retail procedures.
• Train staff on product locations, artist collections and product information.
• Demonstrate proper restocking and shop organization procedures.
• Monitor retail staff performance during shifts.
• Provide coaching on basic customer service and selling expectations.
• Help ensure retail staff are following established shop procedures.
• Answer staff questions and provide support while working in the shop.
• Communicate staff concerns or performance issues to the Retail Manager.

Guest Experience & Customer Service

• Work directly with guests in Tourist Trap and provide an enthusiastic, welcoming customer experience.
• Actively engage guests and assist with product selection.
• Help guests locate merchandise and answer questions about products and artists.
• Demonstrate merchandise when appropriate.
• Process returns and exchanges according to established policies.
• Resolve basic POS issues.
• Escalate unusual or complicated customer situations to the Retail Manager.

Shop Organization & Maintenance

• Maintain stockroom and back-of-house retail areas.
• Organize packaging and shipping supplies.
• Keep merchandise storage areas labeled and organized.
• Conduct regular shop organization checks.
• Identify damaged fixtures, displays or equipment.
• Communicate maintenance and supply needs to the Retail Manager.
• Ensure Tourist Trap is clean, organized and presentation-ready each day.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous retail, supervisory or management experience.
• Experience with inventory management or POS systems.
• Experience with e-commerce order fulfillment.
• Experience with visual merchandising or retail displays.
• Experience using Canva or similar design software.
• Experience training or supervising employees.
• Experience working with artists, makers or small businesses is a plus.
• Experience with Lightspeed is a plus, but not required.
