We're looking for an experienced Assistant Operations Manager in Los Angeles, CA. Our office and yard are located 30 miles north of LA. Time will be split between field supervision, yard supervision and office work. What You'll Do As Assistant Operations Manager, you'll oversee the daily operations ensuring customers receive consistent service while your team operates safely, efficiently, and profitably. You will report to our Regional Director. Our staff of drivers will report to this position. You'll be responsible for: Setting the culture and leading a crew of drivers: Making sure drivers are set to go first thing in the morning Maintaining a pipeline of driver hiring candidates so adequate number of drivers are always on roster Experience on fleet management / dispatch software tools (e.g. Samsera) · Has autonomy to issue verbal and initial written coaching; escalates continued discipline issues and terminations to manager. · Lead onboarding of new hires and ongoing training of all drivers and field staff aligned with SOPs and checklists to meet company standards. · Provide direct, immediate coaching for drivers and field staff to ensure performance is aligned with expectations. · Manage daily driver schedules to ensure proper staffing levels to meet service demand. · Act as a hands-on leader who steps in during emergency services, deliveries and pick-ups. · Provide route coverage as needed including running routes and service needs. · Gather, review, approve and submit timesheets weekly to ensureaccurate timesheet reporting) · Review and manage time off requests of drivers. · Report field performance and driver issues to leadership clearly and consistently. Overseeing a clean and compliant fleet and yard: Communicate with Regional Director on fleet maintenance requirements Maintain adequate levels of dry good and consumables in the yard Ensure yard is kept neat, tidy and safe to efficient flow of truck and equipment · Oversee and support in field repairs including unit repairs and installations, ensuring compliance with safety standards. Driving towards a high service standard: Driving accountability with drivers so that we deliver to our high service standards Evaluate and coach drivers towards meeting this standard Coordinate with dispatch to ensure all units are reliably serviced on time · Conduct field audits of each driver at least once per month to verify unit placement, cleanliness, and service completion. · Define and enforce quality standards for service delivery and billing accuracy · Act as a field-facing representative of the company with responsiveness and professionalism Key Performance Indicators Track KPIs related to service, productivity, safety and attendance. Service quality audit score. Minimal repeat service complaints. Route coverage and service completion. Driver safety compliance rate. Training completion for all new hires within 30 days Expectations Partnership with Ops Manager to establish open communication and ensure all hand on deck mentality. High visibility in the field with customers and drivers. Direct, consistent leadership and communication. Address and coach unsafe behavior or not meeting company expectations. Commitment to continuous improvement and team development. Alignment with and reinforcement of company Mission, Vision, and Values. Requirements 5+ years of sanitation industry operations leadership experience Experience managing frontline teams in liquid waste, logistics, transportation, construction services, trash, manufacturing, or similar industries Excellent communication and leadership abilities Experience using routing, logistics, or operations software A commitment to safety, quality, and customer service Benefits: 401(k), Dental insurance, Health insurance, Paid time off Work location: In person Scorecard outcomes Crew 1. Maintain a well-organized yard that is OSHA compliant - Drone shot looks good, no spills, painted, Service standards 1. Limited number of customer complaints due to service issues 2. Every driver has a clear understanding of our service standards and has been trained to execute 3.
