Assistant Manager

IntrosBishop's Stortford CM23

Help open and lead our new coffee shop in Bishop’s Stortford

Are you an experienced assistant manager or team leader who enjoys supporting people, building customer relationships and running a busy coffee shop?

We’re looking for a hands-on Assistant Manager to support our Shop Manager at our new Bishop’s Stortford store. You’ll help lead a team of 10, keep daily operations running smoothly and take charge when the Shop Manager is away.

What you’ll do

  • Support the Shop Manager with day-to-day operations, stepping up to lead the shop and team in their absence.
  • Work alongside your team on the floor, keeping service organised and handling busy periods calmly.
  • Help train and develop team leaders and baristas, setting clear expectations and leading by example.
  • Give customers a warm welcome, build relationships with regulars and maintain consistent service across the counter and delivery platforms.
  • Keep on top of stock control, ordering, menu accuracy and shop presentation.
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness, health and safety, and customer service.
  • Keep the Shop Manager informed, raising issues early and helping resolve problems.
  • Support sustainable practices and a positive, fair working environment.

Who we’re looking for

  • You have experience as an assistant manager, supervisor or team leader in a coffee shop, café, restaurant or similar hospitality setting.
  • You’re confident leading a shift, supporting colleagues and taking responsibility when the manager is away.
  • You stay calm under pressure and deal with problems promptly.
  • You take pride in customer service, shop standards and helping your team perform well.
  • You bring warmth, energy and a practical approach to your work.
  • You’re able to travel reliably to Bishop’s Stortford for early starts and weekend shifts.

Why join us?

  • Keep your evenings. The shop opens early and closes at a sensible time, with no late-night service.
  • Help shape a new shop. Work closely with the Shop Manager to establish standards, build customer relationships and support the team from launch.
  • Work somewhere you feel valued. Join a team where people support each other and take pride in their work.
  • Develop your leadership. Gain experience running shifts, training colleagues and taking charge of the shop, with support from your manager.
