As a well-established business operating in a specialist and exciting part of the travel industry, our finance team plays a crucial role in supporting the business and providing clear, reliable financial information. You will be joining a close-knit and highly skilled finance team with a broad range of knowledge and experience. We are looking for either a qualified or part-qualified Assistant Management Accountant who shares those standards and wants to continue developing their experience. You will take responsibility for key areas of the management accounts, including accruals, prepayments and balance-sheet reconciliations, while building your knowledge of the wider reporting process. The role offers genuine scope to develop end-to-end ownership of the month-end close, from preparing and reviewing journals through to variance analysis, reporting and communicating the results. Key Responsibilities: - Prepare and review monthly management accounts in line with the reporting timetable. - Prepare and post month-end journals, including accruals, prepayments and other adjustments, with appropriate supporting documentation. - Prepare and maintain balance-sheet reconciliations, investigating and resolving outstanding items. - Complete key month-end processes, including sales revenue recognition, voucher reconciliations and supporting schedules. - Review monthly P&L and balance-sheet movements, investigating and explaining significant variances. - Take ownership of key sales ledger activities and controls, including sales and ancillary invoicing, receipt allocation, account queries and the monitoring of overdue balances and bad debts. - Oversee the daily ECA reconciliation of client receipts, ensuring transactions are accurately recorded and discrepancies are promptly investigated. - Review and post overhead and supplier invoices, ensuring costs are accurately coded, appropriately approved and processed within agreed timescales. - Review employee expense claims, ensuring they are accurately coded and comply with company policies. - Complete daily bank reconciliations, investigating and resolving outstanding or unusual items. - Process client refunds by bank transfer in line with the company’s authorisation and control procedures. - Assist with year-end audit requests, providing clear and accurate supporting documentation. - Identify opportunities to improve finance processes, increase efficiency and strengthen financial controls. Required Skills and Experience: - Newly qualified or actively studying towards an ACCA, CIMA or ACA qualification, or an equivalent recognised accounting qualification. - Has a minimum of two years’ hands-on experience in monthly management accounts and the month-end close. - Has practical experience preparing journals, accruals, prepayments and balance-sheet reconciliations. - Has experience working in a high-volume, multi-currency finance environment. - Is confident using Excel, including lookup formulas, SUMIFS and pivot tables. - Demonstrates strong attention to detail and takes ownership of producing accurate, well supported work. - Can manage competing priorities and work effectively to deadlines. - Is confident investigating discrepancies, resolving issues and asking questions when something does not look right. - Is proactive, dependable and committed to their continued professional development.
