ASSISTANT GENERAL MANAGER – ICONIC NEW VENUE, CANARY WHARF
Up to £45k OTE | £34k–£40k basic + service charge + bonus
This is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious and talented hospitality leader to join our brand-new flagship venue in Canary Wharf. We’re looking for an Assistant General Manager who brings energy, leadership, and a genuine love for hospitality, someone who thrives in a fast-paced, premium environment and wants to grow within an independent group that rewards initiative and individuality.
Who we are:
We’re Hoste, an award-winning group of independent pubs and dining venues across London, each with its own character, loyal following, and community spirit. From classic pubs to elevated dining rooms and creative cocktail bars, we build places with personality, warmth, and purpose.
At Yummy, sustainability, quality and people come first. We’re proud to support British producers, nurture our teams, and give every member of staff a genuine opportunity to progress — including pathways to venue ownership and shareholding for future leaders.
Who you are:
You’re a natural host and an inspiring team player, passionate about food, drink, and people. You care about the details that make great service feel effortless and memorable. You’re ambitious but grounded; confident, but humble enough to keep learning every day.
You’ll be:
- Passionate – about creating unforgettable guest experiences.
- People-focused – a motivating leader who builds confidence and positivity in others.
- Organised & hands-on – thrives on service, systems, and standards.
- Curious & creative – ready to help shape the offer, events, and guest experience.
You’ll work closely with the General Manager and Head Chef to ensure smooth day-to-day operations, exceptional guest experiences, and consistent delivery of our brand standards.
What’s in it for you:
- £34k–£40k basic salary + service charge + performance bonus (up to £45k OTE)
- 50% food discount for you + 3 guests, on or off duty
- 100% of tronc distributed fairly across the team
- Clear and fast-tracked progression to General Manager
- Comprehensive training in leadership, food, wine & cocktails
- Opportunities for venue shareholding and ownership within the Yummy Collection
- Team events, incentives, and internal awards
- £300 staff referral bonus
- Wellbeing support via Licensed Trade Charity
- Nest pension scheme
- A culture that celebrates individuality, learning and genuine hospitality
Your key responsibilities:
- Support the General Manager in leading and developing a 30+ strong team across front and back of house.
- Be a visible and inspiring leader on the floor, driving standards, service and team spirit.
- Manage daily operations including rotas, service flow, cash handling and guest experience.
- Deliver an exceptional atmosphere and maintain high service standards at all times.
- Handle guest feedback with warmth and professionalism, ensuring positive outcomes.
- Support financial performance by managing labour, stock, and GP targets.
- Champion Yummy’s sustainability, local sourcing and community engagement values.
- Train, motivate, and mentor new managers and supervisors.
- Deputise for the General Manager in their absence.
As you grow in the role, you’ll enjoy:
- Real input in creative and commercial decisions.
- The chance to lead your own projects and events.
- Progression to General Manager and beyond.
- The opportunity to join a company that rewards ownership, not just performance.
What we’re looking for:
- At least 2–3 years’ experience in a supervisory or management role in quality hospitality.
- Proven ability to lead teams and deliver outstanding guest experiences.
- Commercial awareness and understanding of key performance metrics.
- A passion for food, drink, people and sustainable British hospitality.
Why Hoste?
Because we do things differently. We believe hospitality is about human connection, not corporate checklists. You’ll be part of a family of venues that care deeply about their people, their produce and their guests. We’ll give you the tools, trust and freedom to grow a career that’s both rewarding and full of purpose.
Pay: £15.00-£19.00 per hour
