Ngā Tamariki Puāwai o Tāmaki | Auckland Kindergarten Association (AKA) is New Zealand’s largest kindergarten association and a long established not for profit organisation. Since 1908, we have supported quality early childhood education for tamariki and whānau across Auckland communities. We are looking for an organised and enthusiastic Assistant Finance Officer to join our Finance team at our Auckland Support Office. About the role This newly created role is designed for someone in the early stages of their finance career who wants to develop practical skills in a busy Finance environment. Reporting to the Finance Manager - Control & Compliance, you will provide transactional and administrative support across the Finance function, with a focus on accurate processing, record keeping and finance administration. You will also gain exposure to a range of activities across the team. Your day could include: Processing finance transactions and maintaining accurate records Assisting with banking, receipting and billing reconciliations Completing petty cash and credit card reconciliations Supporting month end processing and preparing general ledger journals Assisting with year end and audit preparation Providing backup support across Accounts Payable Processing supplier invoices, payments and expense claims Responding to everyday finance queries from our kindergartens and internal teams Helping identify ways we can improve our finance processes and documentation What you will bring You do not need to know everything from day one. We are looking for someone with a good foundation, strong attention to detail and a genuine willingness to learn. Ideally, you will have: One to three years of experience in finance, administration or accounting support Experience processing transactions accurately and working with financial information Working knowledge of Excel and confidence using computer systems Some experience with an accounting system Strong organisation skills and the ability to manage competing priorities Clear and professional communication skills A collaborative and positive approach Discretion and professionalism when dealing with confidential information A tertiary qualification in accounting, finance or business, or current study towards one, would be an advantage, as would Accounts Payable, general ledger, Sage ACCPAC or Infocare experience.
