Assistant Director, Centre for Applied Ethics

Duties

• To collaborate with the Director and the Associate Director in the planning and implementation of the master plan and the programmes of CAE;
• To develop and coordinate a program of the Centre in the area of ethics and artificial intelligence (hereafter AI);
• To promote research lines and seminars related to ethics and AI;
• To collaborate directly in the development of research related to ethics and AI;
• To participate in all matters related to Service Learning in the university;
• After a period of transition time, to serve as the person-in-charge of Service Learning at SFU;
• To participate directly in teaching ethics-related subjects.

Appointment Criteria

• A recognized master's degree in relevant field, preferably a doctoral degree;
• At least 5 years of relevant work experience in the field;
• Demonstrated research record (publications, research projects) in Ethics and AI or Applied Ethics;
• Experience or strong involvement in Service Learning, experiential learning, or university-community engagement programmes, with teaching experience being an advantage;
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, organisational skills, attention to detail and sense of responsibility;
• Excellent command of both written and spoken English and Chinese (Cantonese and Putonghua).
