Assistant Accountant – Manufacturing & SAP B1
Pharmaceutical Manufacturing | Boronia, Melbourne | Full-time | On-site IDT Australia is an Australian pharmaceutical contract development and manufacturing organisation (CDMO), providing development and manufacturing services to pharmaceutical customers in Australia and internationally. We are seeking an experienced Assistant Accountant – Manufacturing & SAP B1 to join our Finance team at our Boronia manufacturing facility. This is not a general accounting position. We are looking for an accountant with proven experience in a complex manufacturing environment, strong manufacturing accounting capability and hands-on SAP Business One (SAP B1) experience, including involvement in an SAP B1 implementation, migration or significant optimisation project. Reporting to the Finance & Accounting Manager, the role combines financial and manufacturing accounting responsibilities with Finance support for IDT’s SAP B1 implementation. You will work closely with the SAP Project Lead, Finance, Supply Chain and Operations to ensure manufacturing and accounting requirements are appropriately reflected within the system. Key Responsibilities Support month-end accounting including journals, accruals, prepayments, reconciliations and financial reporting. Manage and analyse manufacturing accounting activities including inventory, customer-owned inventory, WIP, product costing, COGS and manufacturing variances. Investigate inventory, WIP and costing discrepancies and work with operational stakeholders to identify and resolve underlying issues. Support inventory valuation, obsolescence provisioning, stocktake processes and manufacturing-related financial analysis. Support the SAP B1 implementation and optimisation program, including process mapping, testing/UAT, data validation, reconciliation, issue identification and implementation support. Work with the SAP Project Lead and internal SMEs to ensure Finance and manufacturing processes are accurately represented within SAP B1. Identify opportunities to improve financial controls, data integrity, reporting and Finance processes. Essential Experience To be considered for this position, you must be able to demonstrate: A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or a related discipline and a minimum of three years’ relevant accounting experience. Accounting experience within a pharmaceutical CDMO, contract manufacturing or directly comparable complex multi-product/multi-customer manufacturing environment, including practical experience with inventory, WIP, product costing, COGS and manufacturing variances. Hands-on SAP Business One (SAP B1) experience within a manufacturing environment, including an understanding of how inventory movements, production transactions, WIP and costing impact financial outcomes. Direct experience supporting an SAP B1 implementation, migration, upgrade or significant optimisation project, including testing/UAT, data validation, reconciliation and issue resolution. Strong practical knowledge of month-end accounting, balance sheet reconciliations, financial controls and reporting. Strong analytical capability, advanced Excel skills and the ability to investigate financial and system discrepancies through to resolution. Ability to work effectively across Finance, Operations, Supply Chain and project teams. Currently based in Melbourne, or able to work full-time on-site at our Boronia facility, with current Australian working rights appropriate to the position. Why IDT?
