Assistant Accountant
Workers Lifestyle Group is entering an exciting period of growth, and we are looking for an ambitious Assistant Accountant to join our Finance team. This brand-new hands-on role is an exciting opportunity to build your career while partnering with our operations team to support financial performance and contribute to the continued success of the Group. ABOUT THE ROLE Reporting to the Management Accountant, the Assistant Accountant will support the day-to-day financial operations of the business, ensuring accurate and timely financial processing and reporting. Key responsibilities will include: Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, including processing invoices, allocating debtor payments and responding to supplier queries. Ensure invoices are accurately coded, processed and paid within agreed payment terms. Prepare supplier payment runs, credit applications and maintain accurate supplier records. Prepare month-end journals and reconciliations, including AP accruals, FBT and prepayments. Process employee expense claims, ensuring appropriate supporting documentation is provided. Manage company vehicle and machinery registrations and insurance, maintaining accurate records. Manage fuel cards and other supplier cards, ensuring transactions are appropriately supported and submitted for review. Complete daily balancing and reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and timely resolution of discrepancies. Support internal and external audit processes and provide information as required. Ensure compliance with accounting standards, policies and internal controls. ABOUT YOU To be successful in this role, you will ideally have: Relevant qualifications in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline CPA or CA qualification (or currently working towards completion) 2 – 3 years previous experience in an accounting or finance role Strong attention to detail and data accuracy Good understanding of accounting principles and financial processes Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills The ability to work independently as well as part of a team A proactive approach and willingness to learn Experience in hospitality, clubs, gaming, hotels, restaurants or retail will be highly regarded.
