Position purpose The Artificial Flower Artist & Retail Assistant is responsible for creating attractive floral arrangements and displays while providing excellent customer service and supporting the day-to-day operations of the retail store. The role combines artificial floral design, product presentation, sales assistance, stock management and general retail duties to ensure a welcoming shopping environment and a positive customer experience. 2. Key responsibilities A. Artificial Floral design and flower artistry Create attractive and professionally presented artificial floral arrangements, bouquets and decorative flower designs according to customer requirements and store standards. Assist customers with selecting flowers, colours, styles and suitable arrangements for different occasions. Prepare flowers and floral materials by trimming stems, removing damaged leaves and ensuring materials are ready for use. Maintain the freshness, quality and presentation of flowers and floral products. Monitor flower stock, minimise wastage and report damaged, unsaleable or low-stock items to the Store Manager. Maintain a clean, organised and hygienic floral preparation and display area. Assist with seasonal floral displays and special occasion arrangements, including birthdays, weddings, Valentine's Day, Mother's Day and other celebrations. B. Customer service and sales Welcome customers and provide friendly, professional and helpful service. Identify customer needs and recommend suitable products, floral arrangements and complementary items. Assist customers with product enquiries, pricing, product selection and purchasing decisions. Promote relevant products and support the store's sales targets. Handle customer concerns and refer complaints or matters requiring approval to the Store Manager. Maintain a positive and professional attitude when dealing with customers and team members. C. General retail operations Assist with opening and closing duties as required. Replenish shelves, arrange merchandise and maintain attractive product displays. Receive, unpack, check, price and organise stock in accordance with store procedures. Maintain accurate product presentation, pricing and ticketing. Keep the sales floor, storage areas and workstations clean, tidy and safe. Assist with stocktaking, inventory checks and identifying stock shortages. Operate the point-of-sale (POS) system and process customer transactions, refunds and exchanges in accordance with company policies and authorised procedures. Follow all company policies, operational procedures, health and safety requirements and reasonable instructions from management. D. Visual merchandising and store presentation Create and maintain appealing floral displays and product arrangements. Ensure floral products and related merchandise are displayed neatly and attractively. Assist with promotional, seasonal and special event displays. Maintain high standards of cleanliness, organisation and visual presentation throughout the store. Ensure displays are replenished and products are presented in accordance with company standards. 3. Skills and experience Experience in floral design, flower arranging or a related creative role is preferred. Previous retail or customer service experience is an advantage. Good communication and interpersonal skills. Creativity, attention to detail and an eye for colour, design and presentation. Ability to understand customer requirements and provide suitable recommendations. Good organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Reliable, punctual, well-presented and customer-focused. Willingness to learn company products, systems and procedures. 4. Physical and working requirements Ability to stand and move around the store for extended periods. Ability to undertake routine lifting, carrying, unpacking and replenishment duties within safe working limits. Ability to work in a retail environment that may become busy during weekends, seasonal events and peak trading periods. Flexibility to work rostered shifts, including weekends and public holidays where required and agreed in accordance with the employment agreement and applicable legislation. Pay: $26.00 – $30.00 per hour Work Location: In person
