Role Overview

The Application Engineer is responsible for providing technical and commercial application support for FläktGroup's Data Center Cooling product portfolio, including Coolant Distribution Units (CDUs), Computer Room Air Handlers (CRAHs), and Fan Wall Units (FWUs).

This role serves as the primary technical interface between Sales, Product Management, Engineering, Manufacturing, and customers throughout the quotation and project execution phases. The successful candidate will review customer specifications, develop equipment selections, generate technical submittals, support pricing activities, and ensure proposed solutions meet customer requirements while aligning with company standards.

The position requires a strong mechanical engineering background, excellent communication skills, and extensive experience with HVAC equipment, preferably within the data center industry.

Key Responsibilities

Sales Support

• Provide technical support to the sales organization throughout the quotation process.
• Recommend equipment configurations based on customer requirements and application conditions.
• Participate in customer meetings to discuss technical solutions.
• Assist Sales in evaluating project opportunities and technical risks.
• Support project negotiations by providing technical clarifications.

Application Engineering

• Review customer plans, specifications, and project requirements.
• Interpret consulting engineer specifications and determine compliance.
• Perform equipment selections and sizing.
• Develop optimized equipment configurations balancing performance, cost, manufacturability, and lead time.
• Coordinate equipment selections with Product Management and Engineering when non-standard solutions are required

Proposal Development

• Prepare complete technical submittals.
• Generate performance data, drawings, schedules, and compliance documentation.
• Review proposals for technical accuracy and completeness.
• Support pricing activities by coordinating with manufacturing and supply chain.

Product Knowledge

• Provide application support for:
• Computer Room Air Handlers (CRAHs)
• Fan Wall Units (FWUs)
• Hydronic systems
• Control sequences

Project Support

• Participate in project handoff meetings.
• Support Project Management and Key Account Coordinators during project execution.
• Review customer comments and submittal revisions.
• Assist Manufacturing and Engineering with technical questions during production.
• Provide technical support during factory testing when required

Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering required.

Experience

• Minimum 3 years of experience in HVAC application engineering or a related field.
• Experience with HVAC equipment, CRAHs, FWUs or similar products preferred.
• Experience supporting mission-critical or data center applications is highly desirable.

Technical Skills

• Strong knowledge of chilled water systems and HVAC applications.
• Experience with commercial or industrial HVAC equipment.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Strong understanding of psychrometrics and heat transfer.

Travel Requirements
