The opportunity

The Applications Architect is responsible for architecting and governing solutions that support the overall ICT strategy and enable the client organization to achieve its business objectives. The role leads the design, development and optimization of application systems, aligning ICT strategies and plans with business goals.

Your key responsibilities

• Work with clients and stakeholders to understand needs and requirements and develop short- and long-term application strategies that support business objectives.
• Develop and implement technology roadmaps and set the strategic direction for technology implementation.
• Provide technical guidance to clients and internal teams at enterprise and project levels.
• Develop enterprise architecture and support the communication, use and compliance of architecture and design guidelines and standards.
• Support the selection and application of appropriate architecture designs and audit applications and systems against approved guidelines.
• Define, analyse, design and approve application integration points and external interfaces.
• Advise technical projects across functions to ensure solutions are integrated and comply with application, infrastructure and security requirements.
• Develop architecture and solution designs, review vendor solution designs and evaluate vendor proposals.
• Develop business requirements, business cases and non-functional requirements for new projects.
• Produce accurate high-level technical design documentation and maintain knowledge of future technology developments.
• Communicate with project managers and provide guidance to implementation and engineering teams.
• Deliver technical presentations to peers, leadership, sales executives, clients and prospects.
• Complete technical design specifications and bills of material as required.
• Recommend budgets and rough-order-of-magnitude estimates, identifying opportunities and areas for improvement.
• Provide technical leadership, support recruitment and recommend training and development plans for teams.
• Recommend improvements to policies, processes and procedures and prepare relevant MIS statements and reports.
• Perform other related duties or assignments as directed.

What we’re looking for

(a) Required skills / qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science.
• More than 8 years of experience in applications architecture or a related field.
• Strong all-round IT technical capability with an excellent understanding of IT architecture and related best practices.
• Good knowledge of modern application architecture practices and patterns.
• Strong strategic thinking, customer orientation, drive for excellence, credibility building and information security awareness.
• Ability to communicate effectively and guide stakeholders, vendors and technical teams.

(b) Preferred skills / qualifications

• Master’s degree.
• TOGAF certification.
• ITIL certification.
