The first full-time faculty members of the Flagship School of Business will help establish traditions, expectations, curriculum, student experiences, and academic culture that will influence the School for many years. The successful candidates will have opportunities to participate in: Refining the Flagship Business curriculum Developing new courses and experiential learning opportunities Collaborating with American university partners Developing intensive teaching collaborations with visiting American faculty Creating applied business projects with Indonesian and multinational companies Recruiting and mentoring subsequent faculty Developing a strong culture of faculty-student interaction Building the reputation and academic identity of the School Faculty members who enjoy institution-building, innovation, and close engagement with students will find this environment particularly attractive. Teaching and Academic Responsibilities The Founding Business Lecturers will teach courses within the Flagship School of Business and contribute to the broader intellectual life of the University. Teaching assignments will depend upon academic background and the needs of the School. Areas of particular interest include: International Business Management and Organizational Behavior Marketing Finance Business Analytics Entrepreneurship and Innovation Strategy Digital Business The University is particularly interested in faculty members who can teach across more than one area of the curriculum. Faculty will be expected to use contemporary, student-centered instructional approaches characteristic of high-quality business education, including case analysis, discussion-based teaching, team projects, simulations, presentations, applied research, and engagement with practicing business leaders. All courses are taught in English. Corporate and External Engagement Jakarta provides an exceptional environment for business education. It is the commercial center of Indonesia and home to major Indonesian companies, multinational corporations, financial institutions, technology firms, entrepreneurial ventures, and professional service organizations. Founding faculty are encouraged to develop productive relationships with the broader business community. Depending upon their interests, faculty may participate in: Corporate projects and consulting Executive and guest speaker programs Internship development Business case development Industry advisory activities Applied research Community and entrepreneurial initiatives The objective is to ensure that students encounter business not only through textbooks and classrooms but through sustained interaction with organizations operating in Indonesia and the wider ASEAN region. Qualifications AUI seeks faculty members who combine excellent teaching with intellectual curiosity, professional maturity, and enthusiasm for helping build a new academic enterprise. Successful candidates are likely to be individuals interested in joining a university during a formative stage rather than entering a mature department with long-established structures. They should be comfortable working collaboratively across academic disciplines and cultures and should share the University’s commitment to creating a rigorous, student-centered, internationally oriented business education. Required Qualifications Candidates should possess: A doctoral degree in Business or an appropriate business discipline from an accredited institution Demonstrated expertise in one or more areas of the business curriculum Evidence of effective university teaching Excellent English-language communication skills Ability to teach and mentor students in a multicultural environment Demonstrated commitment to student-centered higher education Ability to work collaboratively with faculty and academic leadership Experience in contributing to curriculum and academic program development Strongly Preferred Experience Strong candidates will also demonstrate one or more of the following: Teaching experience at an accredited U.S. college or university Academic training at a U.S. university Professional experience in business or industry International teaching or professional experience Experience with experiential or project-based learning Development of business cases or simulations Curriculum development Program assessment or accreditation Faculty Qualities The successful candidate will demonstrate: A passion for teaching Intellectual curiosity High academic and professional standards Deep commitment to student success A sense of institutional ownership Willingness to innovate in curriculum and pedagogy Cross-cultural awareness Strong interpersonal and communication skills Professional integrity and sound judgment Enthusiasm for living and working internationally Additional Information Background and Reference Checks To ensure that individuals who join AUI are well qualified and to ensure that AUI maintains a safe and productive work environment, AUI will conduct pre-employment background checks on all applicants who accept a conditional offer of employment.
