We specialise exclusively in commercial air-conditioning installations for small and medium-sized businesses. We do not undertake residential or domestic work. Our customers operate across a variety of commercial environments, such as offices, retail premises, hospitality venues, workshops, warehouses and other business premises. This is a full-cycle technical sales role. You will prospect for new commercial customers, attend business premises, establish the customer’s requirements and carry out detailed site surveys. You will then design an appropriate air-conditioning solution, prepare accurate project costings, present the proposal and close the sale. The successful candidate must have relevant experience within the commercial air-conditioning or HVAC industry. You will need sufficient technical knowledge to survey and specify installations confidently, including equipment, materials, labour and all associated project requirements. This position would suit an experienced Commercial Air Conditioning Sales Engineer, Technical Sales Surveyor, HVAC Estimator or air-conditioning engineer who has progressed into a customer-facing sales and estimating role. Additional key duties and responsibilities Prospect for new business from small and medium-sized commercial organisations through telephone calls, email, networking, referrals and other appropriate channels. Build relationships directly with business owners, directors, facilities managers, property managers and other commercial decision-makers. Identify suitable commercial prospects within the company’s target geographical area and agreed market sectors. Arrange and conduct customer meetings and technical surveys at commercial premises. Understand the operational needs of each business, including occupancy, working environment, operating hours, budget and timescale. Design and specify commercially appropriate air-conditioning solutions for offices, shops, hospitality venues, workshops, warehouses and other business premises. Develop repeat business and identify opportunities for additional commercial installations, maintenance and related services. Focus exclusively on commercial opportunities; this role does not involve residential or domestic sales. Essential experience and requirements Proven experience within the commercial air-conditioning or HVAC industry. Previous experience surveying, specifying, estimating and selling commercial air-conditioning installation projects. Experience dealing with small and medium-sized businesses and communicating with business owners and commercial decision-makers. A successful track record of generating and closing new commercial business. The technical ability to complete commercial site surveys and specify suitable air-conditioning systems. Experience calculating complete project costs, including equipment, materials, labour, access requirements and subcontracted works. Confidence prospecting for new business and making outbound telephone calls. Strong consultative selling, presentation, negotiation and closing skills. A sound understanding of commercial air-conditioning systems and installation practices. Commercial awareness, including an understanding of project margins and cost control.
