Job Description We are seeking a highly driven Junior Developer with strong foundational skills in Go (Golang) and JavaScript/Svelte that builds the tools powering accurate, audit-ready ACA compliance deliverables. As a Junior Developer, you will build and maintain internal tools and web applications and perform data analysis to help ensure the accuracy of processed compliance data. This role requires strong problem-solving skills, technical adaptability, and a commitment to writing clean, maintainable code. Key Responsibilities Build and maintain tools and web applications using Go (Golang) and JavaScript/Svelte Develop modern web interfaces using Svelte for responsive, fast, and efficient user experiences Build and maintain AI-assisted tooling — LLM-backed workflows for data validation, document extraction, and exception handling in our compliance pipeline Update and maintain company websites, including WordPress-based sites Assist with systems integrations Perform data analysis using Excel, handling messy or poorly formatted data with creative solutions Support inbound marketing projects (basic knowledge is a plus) Conduct quality audits to ensure accuracy in processed data Collaborate with the team using GitHub for version control Troubleshoot errors, read and understand existing code, and propose solutions that prioritize reliability and long-term maintainability Required Skills & Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or related field Self-motivation — eagerness to work hard, learn quickly, and be rewarded for results Strong Excel skills (must pass an internal Excel skills assessment, including VLOOKUPs and pivot tables) Programming experience in Go (Golang) or a similar language (e.g., Python, C) JavaScript fundamentals and eagerness to learn Svelte for modern web development Understanding of web development fundamentals (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) Familiarity with Git/GitHub workflows Demonstrated ability to deliver straightforward, maintainable solutions and avoid unnecessary complexity or over-engineered patterns Strong problem-solving skills, especially with messy datasets High attention to detail and a commitment to manually testing software thoroughly to ensure reliability Commitment to writing clear, maintainable code Flexible, adaptable, and able to take on different responsibilities as needed Availability across Eastern Time Zone, consistent with team collaboration needs Preferred Skills Any exposure to Svelte or other modern JavaScript frameworks WordPress experience or familiarity with content management systems Exposure to inbound marketing concepts Experience with data validation and audit workflows Familiarity with error-handling logic and structured coding approaches Genuine curiosity about AI-assisted development; daily use of coding agents with informed opinions on where they help and where they don't Interview Process As part of our interview process, we will ask you to complete a small project that you can work on for up to a week. Unlike typical tech interviews that are adversarial and focused on high-pressure algorithmic problems that you'll rarely realistically face in day-to-day work, we want to see how you approach real-world problems, explain technical concepts, and build actual working software start to finish. This could be something you've already built, or a new project as suggested in the options below: A) Demonstrate your ability to work with databases, user interfaces, and basic CRUD operations. Use Pocketbase (https://github.com/pocketbase/pocketbase) to create a simple web app. Examples: A personal blog with user authentication A simple content management system for a hobby or interest A basic task/project tracker A small e-commerce-style catalog B) Demonstrate your ability to handle real data processing tasks: Examples could include a tool that: Merges data from multiple spreadsheets Generates pivot table summaries from raw data Converts CSV data feeds to formatted Excel reports Creates automated expense/budget calculators Examples: An invoice generator that takes customer data and creates invoices A receipt printer for small business transactions A report generator that converts spreadsheet data into PDF summaries, or a certificate/document template filler C) Something else that demonstrates competence with Go programming and/or Svelte frontend development. Examples: A simple API with a Svelte frontend A command-line utility that solves a problem you've personally encountered A data visualization tool Any other project that showcases clean, working code in Go and/or Svelte D) Simple Excel Report Generator Key Features: Read input data from a CSV or JSON file Process the data (e.g., calculate totals, averages) Generate an Excel report with multiple sheets Apply formatting for a polished, readable report Add charts or graphs to visualize the data Technical Components: Accept a file path as a command-line argument Calculate summary statistics (totals, averages, min/max) Group data by category, if applicable Create a new Excel workbook with multiple sheets (e.g., "Summary," "Detailed Data," "Charts") Populate sheets with processed data and apply formatting (colors, fonts, borders) Add formulas for dynamic calculations Save the generated file to disk and confirm the output path Bonus Features: Support for multiple input file formats Custom templates for different report types Ability to merge data from multiple input files Option to password-protect the generated file Automatically email the generated report E) CLI Task Manager with SQLite Backend Key Features: Add, list, update, and delete tasks Mark tasks as complete Set due dates and priorities Filter and sort tasks Export tasks to CSV Technical Components: Use Go's flag package or Cobra (https://github.com/spf13/cobra) for argument parsing Implement SQLite database interactions Handle date/time operations Implement CSV export functionality Bonus Features: Add unit tests Implement data validation Create a simple TUI (Text User Interface) using a library like tview Project Submission: Please publish your completed project, including a brief README describing your approach via a public GitHub repository.
