Admissions Officer

Alpha Schools LimitedHigh Wycombe HP13 6PR

Are you someone who likes to pick up the phone, ask the right questions and take real satisfaction in helping people? If you thrive in a busy, people-focused environment and enjoy seeing enquiries turn into school visits and ultimately registrations, we would love to hear from you.

We are looking for a proactive and personable Admissions Officer to join our Head Office team in High Wycombe. You do not need to have worked in a school before. What matters most is your ability to build confidence, follow through and genuinely care about finding the right school for each family.

About Alpha Schools

Founded in 2003, Alpha Schools has grown to become one of the UK’s established groups of independent schools. Each of our schools has its own character, history and strengths. We believe in preserving that individuality, rather than asking every school to fit the same mould.

Our Central Support team works alongside all 21 schools across the group, helping them deliver an excellent experience for families. We value initiative, collaboration and people who are keen to keep learning and developing.

About the Position

Contract: Permanent, full-time, fully office-based

Working hours: Monday to Thursday, 8:30am – 4:45pm; Friday, 8:30am – 4:00pm

Salary: Up to £35,000 based on experience

Start date: Immediate start available

What you will be doing

You will take ownership of admissions for a small group of schools within the group. Owning each prospective family’s journey from their first enquiry through to a school visit and registration. This is an active relationship-building role, not simply an administrative one.

You will be:

  • Speaking with prospective parents by telephone and email, getting to know their child, what matters to them and what they are looking for in a school.
  • Proactively following up enquiries, securing school visits, answering questions and helping families feel confident about their next step.
  • Working closely with school admissions teams and Headteachers to arrange visits, share useful family information, obtain feedback and follow up personally after each visit.
  • Guiding interested families through the registration process, checking that agreed actions, paperwork and relevant milestones are progressed.
  • Keeping our CRM up to date with enquiry details, contact attempts, family priorities, year groups, visit outcomes and clear follow-up actions.
  • Learn what makes each Alpha school distinctive, and work with schools to improve the prospective parent experience.
  • Review enquiries and admissions processes with the Group Admissions Manager, spotting opportunities to improve follow-up and results.

About You

We are looking for someone who:

  • Builds rapport easily, listens carefully and communicates warmly and confidently, particularly on the phone.
  • Enjoys achieving results, is comfortable asking for a decision and knows how to encourage the next step without being pushy.
  • Takes ownership, keeps promises and persists with thoughtful follow-up even when families are difficult to reach.
  • Is organised, accurate and comfortable using digital systems to manage multiple conversations and priorities.
  • Uses good judgement and checks facts.
  • Welcomes feedback, learns quickly and works well with colleagues across different schools.

Experience in consultative sales, recruitment, admissions or another proactive customer-facing role would be an advantage. Previous independent school admissions experience and CRM experience are desirable, but neither is essential.

  • A collaborative environment
  • Wellness programme
  • Life assurance (x3 annual salary)
  • 28 days’ holiday (including Bank Holidays), increasing by 1 day per year of service (up to 33 days)
