This is a great opportunity for someone with a solid grounding in accounts and a good understanding of how businesses operate, who's ready to take the next step in their career. We particularly value the broad experience gained from working in smaller businesses, where finance involves much more than simply processing transactions. The Role You'll be involved in the day-to-day running of our accounts function, working closely with the management team and external accountants. Your responsibilities will include: - Managing sales and purchase ledgers, credit control and supplier payments - Bank and credit card reconciliations - Assisting with VAT returns, payroll and pensions - Monitoring cash flow and supporting financial planning - Assisting with management accounts, budgets and financial reporting - Supporting month-end and year-end procedures - Helping improve financial processes and systems As you develop in the role, you'll have opportunities to take on greater responsibility and become more involved in the financial and commercial aspects of the business. About You We're looking for someone with a solid grounding in accounts, a commercial head on their shoulders and a genuine understanding of how businesses operate. Someone who can look beyond the numbers, use their initiative and appreciate how finance supports the wider business. We value practical experience just as much as formal qualifications. We recognise that years of hands-on experience can provide a wealth of accounting knowledge and commercial understanding. Ideally, you'll have: - Experience in an Accounts Assistant, Senior Accounts Assistant, Bookkeeper or similar role - AAT Level 3 or 4, working towards AAT, or equivalent practical experience - A sound understanding of accounting principles, VAT and reconciliations - Experience with Xero or similar accounting software and good Excel skills - An understanding of cash flow, business costs and profitability - Good organisational skills, initiative and the confidence to work independently - A positive, proactive attitude and a willingness to get involved Experience working in a small or medium-sized business, particularly in a varied accounts role, would be especially welcome.
