Accounting Manager
RLM Hospitality is looking for an experienced Controller or Accounting Manager with a strong background in multi-unit restaurant accounting . This is not an accounting software implementation role. We are looking for someone who has actually been responsible for the accounting: closing the books, reviewing financial statements, maintaining clean balance sheets, ensuring reconciliations are complete, and delivering accurate financials on time. The ideal person has worked inside or alongside a multi-unit restaurant group and understands the realities of restaurant accounting — high transaction volume, multiple locations and entities, tight close timelines, and accounting that often requires judgment and problem-solving. At RLM Hospitality, our Accounting Managers and Controllers own client relationships while working with a supporting accounting team. You’ll start with a smaller portfolio and ramp over time to approximately 5–9 restaurant groups , depending on size and complexity. What You'll Own Own the accounting relationship for a portfolio of multi-unit restaurant clients Lead monthly financial review calls with restaurant owners, operators, CFOs and controllers Review P&Ls and balance sheets for accuracy, completeness and reasonableness Ensure month-end financials are delivered accurately and on time Review and oversee: Bank reconciliations Balance sheet reconciliations Accruals and prepaid expenses Intercompany activity Fixed assets Payroll journal entries Accounts payable Revenue and deposit reconciliation Month-end close Identify accounting issues, determine what caused them and drive them through resolution Oversee the work of a Staff Accountant, Junior Accountant and offshore accounting support Establish priorities, review work and make sure deadlines are met Communicate clearly with clients when something needs attention, correction or a decision Understand the operational story behind restaurant financial statements — not simply whether the debits and credits balance Who We're Looking For The strongest candidates will have: 2+ years of direct responsibility for accounting within a multi-unit restaurant organization Experience supporting or overseeing accounting for multiple restaurant locations or entities Hands-on experience with full-cycle accounting and month-end close Strong understanding of restaurant P&Ls and balance sheets Experience reviewing the work of other accountants Ability to take ownership of accounting quality and timeliness Strong client communication skills Comfort working independently in a remote environment Ability to manage multiple restaurant groups and competing deadlines Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field preferred Restaurant accounting experience is critical. Experience with Restaurant365 (R365) is a strong plus, but we care more about your restaurant accounting background than your experience implementing accounting software. The Person Who Will Do Well Here You probably understand this role if you've worked for a 10+ location restaurant group , were responsible for getting the books closed every month, reviewed financial statements before they went to leadership, and were the person people came to when something on the balance sheet didn't make sense. You're comfortable getting into the details when necessary, but you also know how to step back and determine whether the financial statements actually make sense. This is an individual-contributor-first role with leadership responsibility . You will have a team supporting you, but you're ultimately responsible for the quality of the accounting delivered to your clients. About RLM Hospitality RLM Hospitality is a remote accounting and operations firm focused exclusively on the restaurant industry. We work with multi-unit restaurant groups across the country, helping operators improve their accounting, financial visibility and operational performance. Our team works extensively within Restaurant365 and has deep experience working with growing restaurant organizations. We're looking for people who take ownership, communicate well, solve problems and care about delivering high-quality work.
