The Accounting Manager will manage the day-to-day accounting function, strengthen financial controls, ensure compliance with Philippine tax and regulatory requirements, and provide management with reliable financial information for decision-making. This position requires someone who can lead a team while remaining directly involved in reviewing accounts, resolving discrepancies, improving processes, and meeting reporting deadlines. Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial Accounting and Reporting Oversee the company’s general accounting operations, including the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash management, fixed assets, inventory, and intercompany accounts. Ensure the accurate and timely preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Review journal entries, account schedules, bank reconciliations, balance-sheet reconciliations, and supporting documents. Manage the monthly and annual financial closing process and ensure that reporting deadlines are consistently met. Analyze financial results, identify significant variances, and provide clear explanations and recommendations to management. Prepare management reports, including profit-and-loss statements, balance sheets, cash-flow reports, expense analyses, and branch or business-unit performance reports. Maintain complete, accurate, and properly organized accounting records. Tax and Regulatory Compliance Ensure the accurate and timely preparation and filing of BIR returns and other statutory reports. Monitor compliance with VAT, withholding taxes, income tax, local business taxes, and other applicable government requirements. Coordinate with external accountants, auditors, tax consultants, banks, and government agencies. Prepare schedules, documents, and reconciliations required for annual audits, tax examinations, and regulatory reviews. Monitor changes in Philippine accounting standards and tax regulations and recommend necessary actions. Internal Controls and Process Improvement Develop, implement, and enforce accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls. Safeguard company assets by ensuring proper documentation, approval, recording, and reconciliation of transactions. Review existing accounting processes and recommend improvements to increase accuracy, efficiency, accountability, and fraud prevention. Investigate unusual transactions, discrepancies, shortages, and control exceptions. Ensure proper segregation of duties and adherence to approval limits. Improve the reliability and integration of accounting, point-of-sale, inventory, purchasing, and payment systems. Budgeting and Financial Analysis Assist management in preparing annual budgets, forecasts, and cash-flow projections. Monitor actual financial performance against budgets and explain material variances. Provide financial analysis to support pricing, cost-control, expansion, investment, and operational decisions. Identify opportunities to improve profitability, control expenses, and manage working capital. Monitor cash requirements and assist management in planning payments and fund utilization. Inventory and Cost Management Oversee inventory accounting and ensure that purchases, transfers, usage, wastage, and ending inventory are properly recorded. Review inventory counts and investigate significant variances. Monitor product costs, food costs, gross margins, operating expenses, and profitability by branch, product, or business unit. Work closely with Operations, Purchasing, Warehouse, and Store Management to improve cost controls and inventory accuracy. Team Leadership Supervise, train, and evaluate members of the Accounting Department. Assign responsibilities, establish deadlines, and monitor the quality and timeliness of the team’s work. Develop clear procedures and checklists to ensure continuity and accountability. Promote a culture of accuracy, integrity, confidentiality, discipline, and continuous improvement. Serve as the primary accounting contact for other departments and help resolve finance-related concerns. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy, Finance, or a related field. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) qualification is strongly preferred. At least five years of relevant accounting experience , including at least two years in a supervisory or managerial role . Experience in retail, restaurants, food service, hospitality, distribution, or another multi-branch business is an advantage. Strong knowledge of Philippine Financial Reporting Standards, BIR requirements, taxation, and statutory compliance. Experience handling financial closing, audit preparation, budgeting, inventory accounting, and internal controls. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting or ERP systems. Experience with point-of-sale and inventory-management systems is an advantage. Strong analytical, organizational, leadership, and problem-solving skills. Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet strict deadlines. High level of integrity, professionalism, discretion, and accountability. Able to communicate financial information clearly to both accounting and non-accounting personnel. The person must be comfortable working in a growing and fast-paced organization, identifying problems before they become serious, and following through until issues are fully resolved. We are looking for someone who does more than prepare reports—the successful candidate should understand the business behind the numbers and help management improve controls, profitability, and financial decision-making.
