Account Executive (Consultant - Smart Manufacturing)
Job Overview
Are you a relationship-driven sales professional with a passion for manufacturing, technology, and solving complex business challenges? ATS is seeking a highly consultative sales professional who combines manufacturing and engineering expertise with a strategic, solutions-focused sales approach to help manufacturers accelerate their digital transformation. In this role, you'll engage with executive leaders and cross-functional teams, uncover operational challenges, and deliver innovative Industrial Automation, MES, MOM, and Smart Factory solutions that drive measurable business results. We're looking for someone who thrives on asking the right questions, challenging conventional thinking, and building lasting customer partnerships. This isn't transactional sales, it's an opportunity to become a trusted advisor, shape the future of manufacturing, and make a meaningful impact.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain strong, long-term customer relationships with plant managers, operations leaders, maintenance teams, engineering, IT, and executive stakeholders. Establish credibility, earn trust, and become a valued strategic advisor within assigned accounts.
- Become the go-to advisor for end-user decision makers, including but not limited to plant managers, operations, maintenance, engineering, IT, and executive leaders for your accounts’ digital transformation roadmap and journey toward Industry 4.0.
- Lead discovery conversations to identify customer problem statements to understand what's slowing customers down (productivity, quality, downtime, visibility, etc.) and shape the right solution in collaboration with our technical teams.
- Build strategic account plans, identify new opportunities across customer sites, and serve as the customer's primary point of accountability at ATS.
- Guide multi-stakeholder, high-value opportunities from first conversation through close and handoff to delivery.
- Work hand-in-hand with solution architects, project managers, and delivery teams to ensure customers succeed long after the deal closes.
- Lead complex solution sales involving multiple stakeholders and extended sales cycles.
- Present compelling business cases that demonstrate return on investment (ROI), operational efficiencies, productivity improvements, and measurable financial value.
- Maintain an accurate sales pipeline and forecast within our company’s CRM for deals assigned to you.
- Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and manufacturing trade shows.
- Maintain full accountability for assigned strategic accounts by forecasting, tracking, and reporting key performance metrics (including quarterly sales targets, opportunity pipelines, and long-term account development plans) to support data-driven decision-making and sustained account growth.
- Lead consultative discovery conversations through active listening, thoughtful questioning, and a genuine understanding of customer needs, business objectives, operational challenges, and opportunities for improvement.
- Develop strategic account plans focused on strengthening customer partnerships, expanding relationships across multiple facilities, and identifying opportunities for long-term account growth.
Skills ·
- Hands-on familiarity with manufacturing environments; operations, production planning, continuous improvement, PLCs, SCADA, and/or digital transformation initiatives.
- A track record of managing and growing strategic or enterprise accounts.

- Success closing six- and seven- figure solution sales across complex sales cycles.
- Experience working with manufacturers in industries such as automotive, aerospace & defense, food & beverage, energy, or life sciences.
- Exceptional relationship-building and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish credibility, earn trust, and develop lasting partnerships with operational leaders, technical teams, and executive decision-makers.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or related) preferred; equivalent technical or industry experience is welcome.
