# 2026/115 Locum Consultant Radiologist **The Rotunda Hospital** · Dublin, County Dublin · `On-site` 🕒 **Статус:** *Опубликовано: 7 дней назад* · *Источник: Indeed* --- ### About the Role Locum Consultant Radiologist Fixed Term - 1 Year Contract Job Specification & Terms and Conditions Job Title and Grade Locum Consultant Radiologist Competition Reference 2026/115 Closing Date October 21st 2026 Taking up Appointment December 2026 Location of Post Rotunda Hospital (18 hours) / Connolly Hospital (19 hours) Details of Service Acute Gynaecology Service for Connolly Hospital (CHB)/ Rotunda There are currently 4 Consultant Gynaecologists with cross site appointments between Rotunda and CHB. This 1 WTE Radiologist proposal will also be split across both sites in a similar manner to the clinical service. The radiologist will support the sonographers with GP and ED direct Gynaecology ultrasound referrals, as well as point of care ultrasound in the Gynaecology OPD by gynaecologists Connolly hospital has a state of the art interventional suite. The radiologist will be involved in interventional radiology for tubo-ovarian abscesses, embolization for fibroids, acute bleeding and AVMs along with tubal recanalization and HSGs. The radiologist will perform ultrasound and HSGs at the Rotunda. The radiologist will participate in gynaecology MDT discussion of ultrasound and MRI findings monthly at the Rotunda. The Rotunda has a national service for complex adolescent gynaecology which includes ultrasound and review of MRI imaging. Reporting Relationship To the Master / Clinical Director Purpose of the Post Increased support and enhanced delivery of on-site Radiology Services at Rotunda & CHB. Promote access to complex imaging (especially MRI) off-site within the same Health Region at the CHB campus. Reduce dependency on outsourcing of ultrasound and elective specialist imaging and associated costs. To promote direct access to US for GPs. Decrease the waiting list for (a) US referrals from OB/GYN OPD (b) Urgent in-house scans. Improve safety by having a cross-site Radiology QI programme between Connolly Hospital and Rotunda. Principal Duties and Responsibilities Standard Duties and responsibilities: Contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate radiological teaching including supervision and training of radiology non-consultant hospitals doctors. Participate in the Radiology teaching programme of the Faculty of Radiologists, RCSI. Promote advancement and development of radiological services for the enhancement of patient care at the Rotunda Hospital and CHB. Provide expert Radiology input in the development of cross-site clinical care pathways for Gynaecological patients between Rotunda and CHB. Co-operate with radiographers and other staff in the Radiology Department team and with clinicians and others to provide optimum radiological services for adults. Cover of fellow Appointee (opposite .5) during holiday, sickness and other approved absence at the Rotunda Hospital and CHB Contribute to the clinical teaching programme at undergraduate level and to paramedical and nursing staff. Be involved in research. Liaise with the Chief Executive, Director of Nursing, Consultant staff and other members of staff as appropriate in all matters pertaining to the efficiency of the Radiology Dept. Encourage and support research and development. Update himself/herself in education and service, technological and other advances. Perform such other duties appropriate to his/her office as may be assigned to him/her from time to time. Eligibility Criteria Qualifications and/ or experience Professional Qualifications Registration as a specialist in the Specialist Division of the Register of Medical Practitioners maintained by the Medical Council in Ireland in the specialty of radiology. Entry to competition / recruitment process Health A candidate for and any person holding the office must be fully competent and capable of undertaking the duties attached to the office and be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service. Character Each candidate for and any person holding the office must be of good character Age Age restrictions shall only apply to a candidate where he/she is not classified as a new entrant (within the meaning of the Public Service Superannuation Act, 2004). A candidate who is not classified as a new entrant must be under 65 years of age on the first day of the month in which the latest date for receiving completed application forms for the office occurs. Other requirements specific to the post N/A Skills, competencies and/or knowledge The new appointee will be expected to have successfully completed higher specialist (fellowship or equivalent) training in women's imaging and/or obstetric & gynaecological radiology at a recognised centre of excellence. It is desirable if the new appointee has previously practiced at consultant level or equivalent in the field of women's imaging and/or obstetric &gynaecological radiology at a recognised centre of excellence. The new appointee should be fully MRI literate.
